Also I am almost convinced that my troubles are not only mechanical, but more related to the fact that I don't react to lane conditions quick enough, and poor ball choices for the condition presented at the time. I guess I am too stubborn and I try to force something to work, (it worked before). All that screwing around trying to get the ball do work, has had an effect on my arm swing, timing etc. I'm guiding the ball instead of just trusting it and throwing it.

I'll get it together :), gotta learn to not be so hard headed.
"Just do it" as they say.. wink

Eraser, I am on lessen no. 4 trying to get rid of bad habits developed in PBA League. I still don't trust the ball, or for the entire night. I have relapses that happen right in the middle of a game. And, it takes a few frames to correct. Needless to say, it has already screwed the game.

The most important thing was to recognize what I was doing wrong. At least, then, I can correct it. It takes time. Heck, I worked on screwing it up for the entire Summer.

Not great by some standards, but I was struggling to break 500 recently, so I'm hopefull things are looking up. smile
Turns out I had some timing issues (thats what it always is), and a little adjustment in my starting position, and VIOLA, every thing is smooth again.

Goes to show the value of a good coach. I am going to see her again next week to see if we can't get this going even better.

Just to let you know Eraser, you made a small typo. The French word is VOILA and not VIOLA!

Dennis,
My troubles started around mid summer, and I am just now starting to see a flicker of my former self. I don't know how I did it, but I took a high 190 bowler and turned him into a 160ish bowler. I'll come around I'm sure....I think a new ball is in order ..LOL.. smile probably should relearn to drive the balls I have first though.....

Sunday Night Update:

Came into the night with a 187 average and our team is tied for first place, bowling the team TIED for first place. Always fun.

Sometime after practice and the middle of the first game I did something to my knee. It kinda felt like I twisted it or something cause it hurt everytime I had to slide. So I just popped a few aspirin and drank more beer and tried to forget about it.

My steps and footwork were all completely off and I couldn't keep it in the pocket, so I just concentrated on spares to try to salvage a series. 172, 178, 175 for a 525 series. Under my average but I was happy I could keep it there without my A game tonight. We won the first game and lost the last two and series. It's still real early, plenty of bowling to do.

Hopefully the knee is better by Tuesday!!

Travis

HA HA - agreed cool

About trusting the ball - I am guilty of the same thing. I have it in my head that I have to do so much more to get it to do what I want instead of letting the ball do what it is supposed to do. That is one of the things I am trying to correct every week.

Last week, it was not great because my 2nd game was low.

Game 1: 109 Game 2: 98 Game 3: 122

In 3rd game, I bowl good but missed spares.

2nd Game, I had too many splits and missed spares.

So, I am trying to focus on game than thinking or throw too hard.
