OK, that's much better. Sorry, I didn't think of that before. Although the difference has narrowed.

Still, your $200 range will be too aggressive for you to control. Go to a medium priced range reactive ball. One that arcs and learn to hook. More importantly, learn to control it.

Repetition, timing, balance and accuracy are the keys to start off.

Could you define a reactive ball a bit for me? Is it usually center weight and perhaps just a different material to hook a bit?

Thanks.

Reactive resin -
A polymer that is a cousin to traditional urethane but grabs the lane sooner, resulting in more and earlier hook than other coverstocks.

A lot of terms used here can be found in the 'bowling Glossary' at the top of the page.

Look at lines from Ebonite, Lane 1 and Brunswick. in a medium price range.

Thanks for your help, you guys are awesome smile

I found these two on nitro and Ebonite, however they seem low price for having hook potential (atleast i think so).

I have a book on bowling, but im afraid i dont know the specifics of the given numbers to a ball.

Thanks again.

found this one as well, that i think may be more ideal:

I'd go a step up from that. From Ebonite, you'd want the Bash or Clash (I'd lean Bash, the Clash looks a little flippier)

There have been a lot of discussions on drill patterns in the past on this board.
You can find them by going to the SEARCH function at the top and entering a keyword.

You should find a lot. If they are confusing, you should be able to ask your ball driller to explain them. They usually give you time, especially if you buy a ball. When doing that, have him explain how he is laying it out, and don't be afraid to ask questions. Feel comfortable with the ball and the answers too.

Instead of buying from the internet, I would buy from the Pro Shop to help establish a relationship for yourself. If you are a loyal customer they usually give you a discount, where if you buy from the internet you still have to pay to get the ball drilled and besides the internet doesn't honor guarantees or warantees for the most part.

Here is a Nitro critique:
You will never catch any respectable bowler using this ball in any sort of competitive world, which should be expected from a ball bought at a large sporting retailer. I wouldn't recommend anything that you can buy at a major sporting goods store. Instead, support your local Pro Shop with a purchase, they will drill it and know the ball you are using. If you are looking for a "good" ball to use, spend a little dough and get yourself something with some muscle behind it. But you could always use this ball as a toy for your kids to mess around with and learn the game.

You'd be better off with the Ebonite Bash, or Clash.

The sidewinder is a particle pearl coverstock that will carry a little farther down the lane before it hooks. Many bowlers rough up the surface for an earlier grab. At least, this ball has an asymetrical weight, where the Nitro does not.

agm, I find a good source for finding User reviews of balls is to go to this website, Bowling ball reviews . com. Of course, remove all spaces when you look it up. It would get blocked if I typed it correctly here.
