Cheetah on wood for me also last night.

Doing it the "Right" way.....146

Doing it MY WAY...220-255

621 for the set and 2 pot games again.

Here was my thinking....

Myself and 2 other right handers on my pair, all throwing about 6-7 board direct to the pocket. I can see the Track burning up pretty quick and these guys start moving right and they are scoring pretty good. I am not scoring so good and the release is inconsistent at best tonight.

Anyways, I move way left and and start bumping off that Track that was laid down. So I stand 37 hit 18 at the arrows and a breakpoint about 6-8 board and I just start ripping it. About the same time these 2 guys start to move inside themselves and its all over for them. They both shot 220's game one and followed up with 140's and 130's the next 2 games. Meanwhile I am still banging away at the pocket. I changed balls after game 2 because it was getting a bit squirty in the backends late, and my Red Zone was doing what it does, which is plow through carry down and hit like a tank.

I subbed last night, only my 2nd night on a house pattern since the end of winter leagues. Went 194-277(first 9)-231-702. Went with the Cell the first game because the middle was loaded with oil, but it wasn't holding when I pulled the shot and was over-reacting if I went outside of 10. Pulled out the Odyssey for game 2 and it was over. First 9 shots I crushed the pocket, all strikes. Then got nervous, fast feet, pulled the shot through the nose and left the 3-6-10. Alas. I'll get that first 300 soon enough. Last game stayed with the Odyssey, lanes started to dry so moved left a bit and changed grip to get a bit more length. Other than one bad shot in the 9th where I left the 3-6-9-10 and chopped off the 3-9, I was happy with my performance.

Now tonight is my PBAX league, USBC Nationals pattern. Practiced on it on Sunday and found a nice line that works well, so we'll see.

Yes it is, and I will ask tonight.

They tried to get one off in the fall, but only 6 people showed up (after 28 teams in last summer's PBAX). We had 8 3-person teams for winter PBAX league, which started in January. I'll let you know.

Well, it has been suggested that I should stay up the back of the ball on the Cheetah and not use my regular release. That would be the right way. My way is grip it and rip it.

203, 203, 214, 180 for an average of 200 on the Viper in my PBAX league tonight. I got 7 1/2 points out of 8 because my opponent tied my 180. I'm either in 4th or 5th for next week, at least 18 points ahead of 6th place and the week after that is top 5 step ladder. So I'm locked in for at least 5th, which I'm okay with since I believe I'm getting funds towards the Pro Shop for placing no matter what. Going into next week my average is 182, and it's going to be the Chameleon. It's my last chance on it as long as that's not the pattern for the last week, so I hope to do better than my last outing on it.

I shouldn't have bowled last night. When I was getting ready to leave the office yesterday I was moving to a new cube. Some how, I tore a small chunk of skin out of my ring finger. I was running late so I just put a piece of tape on it. When I got to the lanes, I got a better look at it. It doesn't look that bad but bowling 3 games on it sucked. I was under 500 for 3 on the Viper and we only took 2 of 7 points. 3 more weeks of the league.

First night out with the Venom in league. 2 words describe the ball, long and angular. It fits my style perfectly. As for the scores 245-190-222 for 657. The back ends are flying the last 3 weeks so it was a night of constant adjustments. The middle game I wiffed on 2 ten pins and had a split. As a team we rallied and took the last game plus stole wood.

I think I'm going to get some nice scores with this ball. I have 4 more weeks to use it to take league high average (I'm at 214 now, 2nd is at 211). This is not the easiest house to score well in and the shot changes drastically in spurts. I think I like that part more and more since I no longer bowl at my other easier house 45 mins away due to gas prices. It definitely forces you to play the lanes and not just rely on one shot.
