Getting lower does put strain on your leg joints, either knee or hip. You should exercise them before you expect them to act differently then they are used to. A bad sliding knee or hip is no fun.

One other thing. When you dip into a slide, that causes pressure on your knee and hip. Minimize this by keeping your leg and body straight, pointed at your target. Unnecessary twisting to the side, just makes it worse. Lateral pressure on your knee and turning on the outside of your hip is an unnatural movement for them.

I keep my body fairly pointed towards target. I believe when i was trying to get lower, id stand a bit further left, and so when i lean to wards the right, my arm is still in the same position/

I talked to the guy at the Pro Shop. The options i look at are paying $100 for a plastic ball to fit my hand, about $140 for plastic that would be weighted to hook a bit, and $200 for a resin. As a beginner, i would your input on what i should consider. I only play once a week with friends (sometimes twice), I can spend the $200, but i want to know if its really worth it. Thanks.

NO! I don't even pay $200 for premium balls. My comparative prices: Brunswick Scorchin Inferno $189 Storm Shift $179 Lane Masters Terminator $189 Hammer Blue Plastic Spare ball $65 And this was drilled, grips and thumb plug. See if he has a used ball, Smokin Inferno, X factor or similar. Pay the $35-50 to plug and redrill. They are a good ball that you could learn with and should be a reduced price. Have the Pro Shop refinish them to out of box condition. I paid under $75 for an X Factor, 15#, plugged, refinished and redrilled for my son.

You should be able to get a mid-level reactive ball for 150ish. If your Pro Shop won't do that, I think you may need to find a new one. Perhaps the Canadian market is different?
