Thanks Dennis. It'll be 2 years in August when it 1st happened. I definitely prolonged the whole process by not resting it nearly enough. It completely causes havoc with your game. You change grips, hand positions, ball weights, etc etc. I used a wrist brace but it was too stiff so I went with sports wraps or fabric braces. It helped but I still struggled. It feels so good to finally have the strength back. It's hard to enjoy something when it causes you actual pain to do it. Hopefully your injury isn't as severe, its scary how little it takes to have an injury that effects your game.

Greetings all. Mike, good to see you are on the road good and solid! Nice series and ever closer to your goal. Keep it up. Dennis, not so good to hear about your wrist.. that is a real bummer This season I have finally shed the wrist brace but have dropped down to 14 lb ball. This seems to suit me a lot more and I don't have the "floppy" wrist at the end of the third game ... much better. First night wasn't so bad.. 182, 158 and 176 for 516 and 172 average. I was quite pleased but had to chase the lane really hard in the second game.. the transition was fast and furious LOL. My partners averaged 165 and 179, so we were all solid enough but I think we got whipped pretty hard by the opposition who had their middle player rolling a 210 average! We won't know the outcome for another couple of weeks when our averages are established and applied to the games. I suspect that we might get two of eleven points Ok... will report back next week. Cheers and good bowling to all. Allan

Not a lot happening here this week! Last Tuesday was not a particularly good one for any of us although we were steady enough. Personally, it wasn't all that flash with a 153, 189 and 144 for a 162 average. The last game was spoilt by several lane breakages and then we had to move lanes after a 20 minute wait to see if they could fix ours. Sorta lost the mood after a very good start in the third game (we all did). The pair of lanes were quite different to the ones we had been bowling on as they had been destroyed by Joe Public by the time we got onto them. Oh well, it is a long season... we'll get better. Hope everything went well for you guys. I will check in next week and see if there is anything to report. Cheers and good bowling to all, Allan

I guess to some, lane breakdowns are part of the game. We have so few that it gets disturbing when it happens. Our last one caused us to wait 45 minutes. When the lane still wasn't fixed, we had to bowl on one lane of our pair. That's right. 10 bowlers on one lane. We bowled that way to finish the game. 6 frames.
When the other lane finally came up, boy was there a difference in the oil. One slid, the other grabbed. I used a different line. Others had to use 2 balls. There wasn't enough room for 10 original balls, maybe 8 spare balls, and 6 alternate balls. They were on the rack, on the chairs, on rings under the rack. Balls everywhere.
We stood all night.
Needless to say that wasn't one of my better nights. In fact, I really haven't had too many better nights since my hip injury. Average is 10 and 15 pins under last year in 2 leagues.
Keep plugging.

One house I bowl in, there are several lane machine issues a night, sometimes causing people to move lanes. The pin setters date back to the 1960s or possibly earlier and parts aren't easy to find. The head maintenance worker has in previous years bought the old used pin setters form centers that closed down or upgraded in order to try to rebuild them. The other center I bowl in there are a few issues here or there but usually things flow pretty good there. Lately one lane has been having problems with not picking up the 4 pin if its left after the first shot though. This center rarely moves anyone since its usually something that can be fixed in a few minutes, but they did move the teams that were on the pair that had the 4 pin problem last weekend, luckily a few teams were finished as there are no spare lanes with both leagues bowling.

Hi Guys. Yeah, we had issues with the machinery last season... but it was 25 years old! This stuff was installed late last year... less than six months ago and they were great for a little while but now the stuff is just breaking parts as fast as they can go! LOL. This week was a good one for our team.. lowest series 538, highest was 576 and mine was 550! I had a 208, 159 (opened the first five... Duh!!!) and 183. Lanes were ok apart from the quick transition in the second game and the machinery stayed intact all night... YAY! Impressive game from our "Middle Player" who is 16 years old, female and is gonna kick our a$$es big time if we don't get good real quick. She finished with a sweet 201 to top the scoring for that third game! Nice!! Looking forward to next week to see if I can keep my form, as this is the best start to a season that I have ever had. Cheers and good bowling to all, Allan

Hi Allan, Just before Christmas, the fire alarm went off while bowling. We all cleared the center while the firemen searched for the cause. Eventually, we were let back in, only to find that one of the balls of our opponent was missing. It seems that his ball got stuck in the back, and was being rubbed by a roller and belt. The friction caused the ball to heat up, and smoke. That was the cause of the alarm. The center manager came to our lanes, and showed us the ball with a pretty significant rub mark on it. Last night, the center manager came to our lanes, and gave each bowler on our team $10. They reimbursed us for that inconvenience. All of the 64 bowlers had to go outside, and wait for 15-20 minutes. But, the center decided to reimburse only those 2 teams that were on the lane pair that had the problem. Wasn't looking for a refund, myself. But, the owner of the ball did expect his ball to be fixed. Don't know if that happened.

Hi Dennis. It was nice of the centre to at least try to make up for the inconvenience.. good for them . Yeah, I think I would expect some recompense for the damaged ball, especially if it caused a fire alarm LOL!! I hope that your wrist is on the mend and that you are back on the lanes again, if not now, then very soon. Cheers and good bowling to all, Allan

Greetings all... is there anyone still using this thread??? Last couple of weeks have been steady for me, with 510 and 532 series, so I am holding onto a 174 average (up 12 from last season) and am quite pleased with that.:) Our young lady is pretty steady at 170 average with some great games and some ... er... average ones thrown in to keep at that point. The anchor has been pushing along with 600++ series the last four or five weeks, so he is now scratch and we lost his handicap pins We are currently second from the bottom of the league with the highest scratch pinfall.. you see why I am sad about losing those pins! Having fun, all the same Hope everyone is enjoying their bowling and scoring well. Cheers to all, Allan
