Being that I work for the ABC Tournament, you can imagine that we try to get everyone on and off the lanes within a certain time frame. We actively enforce a one-lane courtesy rule. It's really a league issue that you should set at the beginning of the year. Even in our office league there's a mixture of one/two lane courtesy. It just depends upon the league and the bowlers in it.

I think 1 lane is plenty. There are some in the scratch leagues I bowl in that seem to think they need 4 lanes and 45 seconds to deliver the ball!!!

I hate leagues with 2 lane courtesy rules. But if it is the rule, you have no choice. I'm pretty used to it in tournaments, but it slows things down too much in league. The only time I want more than 1 lane is if I'm on a big string, if I'm beside someone with a really distracting style, or someone who lofts the ball a bunch. Too many people see to "need" multiple lanes of courtesy.

One lane, left & right, allowing the right lane to go 1st or if its a Lady either right or left of me she'll go 1st.

2 lanes never, most of the better Bowler I know don't care what going on around them, they tune it out for the task at hand, hitting thier mark.

Example:
Two weeks ago on the mens league the pin chaser was picking up a pin on the lane neet to me that wander into the ditch about 10 feet in front of the rack..I step up made my shot and return to my team..with a round of applause.I didn't notice him and was on a 4 bagger which turned into a 5 bagger.

I am on a mixed league with 1 lane courtesy and a mens scratch league with 2 lane and the only diffrence I see is that some of the bowlers that are to serious get upset if someone forgets or gets antsy. both leagues get done about the same time with starting at the same time. It really depends on the team your bowling.

I understand it and on some level would appreciate it but wow the pressure...

In every league and tournament I have bowled, it has been 1 lane and that is plenty for me. Occasionally if the match is very close and I am in the anchor position I will wait to bowl so both teams can get an idea of where the scores are.
