Cal, those big games come at the most unexpected time. My 298, 2 years ago, came right after a 138 game. Because of that, I never give up, because I know a come back is next.

So, not in league, but after work today I bowled the best I have ever bowled. I think I have the cell figured out for me now. Throw hard up the 8 or 10 board area and it goes to the pocket.

This is how I bowled

X 81 X X X X X 9/ X X8/ 235

9/ 6/ X X X 5/ X X X S81 217

9/ X X X X 9/ X X X XX8 267

My old high game = 239 like 8 years ago, new high game 267!

My old high series = 627 a few weeks ago, new high series 719!

I am psyched! Hopefully the ball will react the same and i can repeat my shots next time I throw it, if so, man thats amazing.

Nice bowling, Lance. Where you been? Hope school isn't disturbing your bowling!

Congrats Lance on the 700. More to come.

Cal:

I will echo what Dennis said. Last season, I was having a horrible night. No matter what I did, I couldn't do anything right. If I hit pocket, I was leaving 8 and 9 pins and a few pocket 7-10s. I think that I had around 340 at the turn. I switched to a ball that I normally wouldn't use (my Erase-It) at the start of the 3rd game. I threw the next 11 and left a 10 pin for a 299. You never know what can happen.

Let me clarify one thing. My earlier problem was with my spare shooting. I guess, as long as I rolled 11 strikes, I didn't have to worry about it.

I wish avoiding a problem was that easy. My last ball was a flat 8-10. I really wasn't rolling the ball well. But, they all fell down.

Well I really think I'm starting to get this game! First game was clean, save for a errant shot at a 9 pin for a 194. Second game saw a couple of splits, but I managed to salvage a 188. The third game was killer... bowled clean until the 8th frame for a 173. Left a small 4-7-8 split, and kicked the 4 pin around the 7 even though I hit how I wanted to just not enough on the 4 pin. Then I threw an errant shot at the 10 pin in the 9th. 555 series for a 185 average on the night. So I feel the consistency is getting there, I'm still being conservative with my hand though. The knuckle still bothers me a bit, so I've been going easy on it and it's killing my revs lol...

Well, Friday night I discovered a couple of things:

1. Screwdrivers will help dull lower back pain,

2. I can bowl effectively in a complete upright position.

My lower back decided to lock up on me Friday morning. So, practice was going to be a test as to if I could bowl. So, I tried my conventional approach and release, and couldn't do it. So, my form was straight up, 4 step approach, and loft. And it worked. I was over my average for the night. The final game, I need to strike out to pick up 150 pins and hopefully shut out the other team, so we could walk out with 4 points. So what happens in the 10th? Stone 8!!! It wasn't a bad ball, I had rolled in the same spot all night long, and this was the only 8 pin that I leave for the night. I picked the spare, and got an 8 count in the bonus, and we lost. I about died when that 8 pin stood. I was ringing up the strike when that happened...

Where did you stick the screwdriver? I can see that a severe puncture will make you forget about a bad back.
