I took a hiatus from bowling after YABA league in spring of 2002. I bowled in Special Olympics in fall 2003, 2004, 2005, and 2006. I left in S.O. after the tournament in October of 2006, and I decided to join adult league in the middle of October in 2006 after 4 years hiatus.

I was in a league that ended in May of 1993. I moved and the only time I had bowled until April of 2006 was on New Year's 1994.

A friend convinced me to join a Summer League in June of 2006 and I have been back since so that is a 13 year hiatus from league bowling and about a 12 year hiatus from even picking up a bowling ball.

I was in YABA until around 1992, didn't play again on a league until fall of 2006. So 14 or so years for me. Bowled like 10 times in those 14 years lol... Very happy to be back in the sport!

I started bowling when i wwas about 8 years old and was in 1 league every saturday morning until i was 14 when i started getting more competive and started bowling 2-3 leagues and tournments. Then in the summer of 1996 when i graduate high school & decided not to bowl summer league. Left for college and graduated 2001 Got a job and got married and never picked up ball again. Except for a few occasions going with friends every couple of years or so.

Then One Sunday in the end of July 2006 wife, mom, and few close family friends decided to go to bowling. I doug my old equipement out of my garge which i kept for some odd reason and went along with them. Then the bowling blood i have started flowing again and from then to end of august bowled every day off from work. Decided i wanted to bowl a league i convinced my mom and two friends to bowl with us. Then Since that havent stop.

That about 10 year break!

I started bowling very seriously in 2000 then got sent to the war in 2003. I didn't get back into it until about October of last year. In my prime I was bowling like 6 times/wk between leagues, practice, lessons and tournaments. I'd really like to bowl like that again, but here in Boise there's not much opportunity to do so.

I quit for 6 years at one time. I just decided I wasn't going to bowl when the season started and I never thought about it. Then my Dad asked me if I was ever going to bowl again and I started bowling leagues with him. It's been 7 or so years since I've been back.

This summer, it will have been 15 or 16 years for me since I was last in a league, most of the time during which I only picked up a bowling ball on a rare occasion. I've also suffered heel fractures in the interim, which might've delayed my return to the game further. I had a few outings last summer and started bowling for practice regularly again in September; I've been blogging all of my experiences since the June outing w/ my brother, which really provided the spark for my comeback, even though I didn't bowl even somewhat well in that outing.

My small hiatus from bowling is nothing compared to all I've seen on here. I started bowling January of 2000, and quit January of 2001 due to money issues and being in a serious long term relationship which started in April of 2000 and is what really caused the money problems. I came back in September of 2002, which was only a year and eight months, and have been bowling every since including summers.

Coming back has been a real adventure so far. Since I averaged 169 in my first full season back I thought I would quickly get back to a 180 averge but hasn't happened that way. Of course I used to bowl 2 leagues and practice now basically no practice and bowl one league a week. This combined with needing different equipment for various lane conditions, needing a coach to improve, etc. any improvement is going to be very slow. Right now I would settle for getting back to 169!!!
