They talked about the pattern a little bit, or at least Petersen did, and Rob did ask about it some. My knowledge of the patterns is pretty minimal (which is why I'm looking to join a sport/PBA experience league in the fall) but out of everyone on the telecast yesterday, Barnes was the only one that would have even been capable of playing the outside.
I would have liked to hear more discussion about the patterns, but relying on a PBA telecast to learn about it is not really the best way to do it. The patterns can string together and they could wind up on a particular pattern for 3-4 weeks at a time, or repeat patterns like say Chameleon-Shark-Chameleon-Chameleon-Scorpion-Shark-Scorpion and not roll on a Viper or Cheetah for weeks. When that happens its hard to have a full knowledge base for each pattern if the telecasts are all you use to learn.
None of us do that (otherwise we wouldn't be on this site in the first place), but I'd rather read articles about the different patterns and go out and throw on them in order to see how my game fits to them and what adjustments I have to make. Unfortunately I still can't do the latter yet =(
