We've had a lot of your "bests" here. Time for the bad stuff.

This past season, I had my two worst games of the season (and my worst game in 5 years). A lovely 130. I didn't have back to back marks until the 9th and 10th frames!
Followed that up with a 141. Somehow bowled a 220 the last game to avert total disaster.

Lowest recent series? A 478 in the 99-00 season. (I can't shoot lower than that for some reason, although I do come close - I've had two series of 479 since then!)

Is everyone afraid to post their bad scores?!? Remember, your average is just that...an average. It takes good and great and bad and not-so-great games to make that average.

I'm not afraid.. I just purge them out of my memory VERY quickly.

Actually, pick any of my scores from ABCs and they would fit here. Most recently, I managed a sterling buck-thirty-something bowling in a sport condition league. Believe me, the condition wasn't THAT tough, either!

First night of my Monday league, just starting the 2000-2001 season. I'm secretary, so I've got to do only 12,000 things PLUS bowl.

The results? 132-129-130 for 391. Our sixth man will most DEFINITELY be bowling the first night of league this year

I am a 160 average bowling and i competed
in a competition over the weekend.

My scores were as follows

110-111 and a 130

I am a 180 average bowler right now but when I just got back into the game 3 months ago I bowled my worst game and series this year of a 97 the first game, a 113 the second, and a 115 the last game for a series of 325. I also bowled another three games that same day and didn't do much better with a 105, 104, and a 131 for a series of 340. It took me 2 months to get my score back up to the 180s.

I am a 200+ average bowler and I shot a scintillating 480 series in the team event at this year's ABC Nationals in Reno. I traveled a long way for a really bad score that first day. :rolleyes:

I got a 95 today .. that's including the fact i had 2 strikes in there too =(

Early this year I had my lowest series in many years. As a matter of fact I can not remember a lower series. I shot a 443 with a 129 game. I do not recall what the other games were but I think in the 140's and 160's. I have to say that it was the low point for me and I do not care to repeat. The following week I had a 550 and since then I have had one series under 600 and that was a 598. I have also had an 800 series since then. Hoping never to repeat that night. Dick

Last Sunday my first game was a 161.I have not Shot that low in ten years!I just could not get it going.Then I shot 207 and 249 for a 617. It was are last night of are league.I had high average all year in league but lost it by one pin.By having that bad game and series.That's bowling for you.

Hi, I am a 160-165 ave (well sometimes) recently in a tournament in a centre i had never bowled before and I bowled a 136, 137, 139, 116, 126, 153 which added to a 807 series! It is the worst I have bowled in a very long time and was a bit depressing, but hopefully next season i will bowl much better! Nicki

I agree that things can turn around after a bad series (or a few...), but it amazes me how I can "click" for a few weeks, just to watch it all fall apart again.

My average has hovered around 200 for the last 20 weeks or so in league; had one stretch of 5 weeks in a row over 650 (thinking "Man, I've finally GOT IT!")... only to bowl under 600 for 3 of the next four! This included a couple of real stinkers (145, 147).

For me, the most frustrating thing about hitting a bad stretch is knowing I'm costing my team points by being so far under my average... but I guess no one is exempt from the periodic "lows"

It happens in the UK too. I average 180 to 190 at every centre I have ever bowled at for more than a few games. I also had a proud record of not having had any sanctioned game under 150 for four years. I then unleashed a 153 which I joked about being close to breaking my record, only to follow it with a 148.

Mind you, the finest low game I have seen in a while was a glorious 87 bowled by a teammate of mine who hit 8 splits. One of our opposition hit 6 splits for 127. I hit 224 - weird.

The worst score i've bowled in a long time was a 115 score. And thats all I want to say about it ...........

Well, people tell me I shot 420 at the National Bowling Stadium, but I don't remember that happening. I think they're all making it up to mess with me.

The way I remember it...we went to the Stadium for a while, you, me, and Marc. Then we went to Harrah's down the street to eat. Later we went back and we shot team event in the FoB. This talk of a phantom series.....maybe it was Robert? Except for the fact we look completely different you can hardly tell us apart....

Here's what my score looked like:

Came back with 226 (clean) and 220 (a few odd splits) for 582 to save average!

I ended the first half our league play with a 169 average, a full 10 pins lower than my average last year. The first night of the second half I told a team member my goal was to have at least 8 200 games by the end of the season. Well, 8 weeks later, I had rolled 10 200 games and raised my average by 7 pins. That eighth week I had a triple double with a series of 662. The next four weeks I roll 519 - 480 - 517 - 452. Arghhh!

Well, my lowest set this year followed a week after one of my highest.

3 weeks ago one of the centres I bowl in had their Phoenix lane machine break down. Enough complaints were lodged that they decided to delay the league for long enough to hand oil the lanes. (Note : At this point I am getting visibly excited - I LOVE oil, and hand oiling usualy results in a lot of it :-)

So, the league starts, and I am watching people complaining like mad as they throw their "hook in a box" balls off the corner, and just make the headpin. High score across the league was 540. Meanwhile, I'm shooting straight down between 2nd & 3rd, and end up with a 718 series :-)

OK, following week. Phoenix is still busted, and I'm hoping for a repeat of the previous week. This time however, everyone had complaind there was too much oil (and they couldn't score - Boo Hoo :-), so the centre says we can bowl on what's there.

I drag out my spare ball, and shoot 500 on the nose. The lanes were hooking in the heads, and playing down 1st resulted in a brooklyn hit.

I felt somewhat humbled and took the next week off :-)

The worst I ever did was after being +143 for a 5 game qualifying round of a JBT tournament, I followed it up with a 132 for the first match play game. I could get the ball to hold up in the pocket no matter what I did. It would either hook right through the face or slide in behind the pocket. After the 3 match play games I found myself in 5th place, barely making the finals.

Toward the end of last season in one of my leagues, I shot 109. I needed a spare in the 10th frame to break 100. I average about 180.
Good thing every now and then there is a 250 game to make up for those.

I remember the last tourney I bowled in was a father son tournament. I avg 212 and one the regional part and my stepdad avg like 205. Then we were off to state to try and qualify for nationals and I avg about 150. I was soooo dissapointed in myself

My worst game in quite a while was last week a beautiful 104 game. The most painful and worst series was last year in city tournament with a 180 ave I had a 359 series. I wonder why I didn't get on a team this year???

Yesterday I went to the local bowling alley to practice. Well, they have not oiled the lanes in about 3 days...it was bad.
I bowled a 143, 176, 126, 134
I gave up on practicing and just went home. If those lanes are not oiled today, I am going to oil them myself.

I've been in a slump for the last 6 weeks. Sunday night I shot my first 200+ game and first 500+ series since August. Two weeks ago I shot an embarrasing 380 series with only 3 strikes and 4 spares for the night (and a low game of 110).
What's really bad is the slump started at the very beginning of both of my leagues after finishing strong in the summer. I've started both leagues with an average about 15-20 pins below normal

No major disasters yet (hey, we're only six weeks into our fall league...), but I did manage to bowl my lowest-to-date and highest-to-date in the same set: 148 - 205 - 254.

You just have to love this game.

A few Tuesdays ago, I shot my worst game in at least 10 years - a 122 - and that came after a 140. Nine days later at another house, I shot my best series ever: 735!

The second night of the season my first game was a 101. My team is still teasing me about it.

I hear so many people on here talking about a 160 being a bad score. Just imagine if that was your average. lol.

Anyway, that is mine. This is a story of a not so bad game (based on my average) but more of a let down. My high score ever is a 205. It's been a while since I have broke 200 now. However I always come close. The other night I bowled into the tenth with a strike backed up with another for a total of 196. I was pumped. All I had to do was hit 4 pins and would break 200!!! So I get up there and do everything I normaly would, and then I threw the ball right into the gutter. I couldnt believe it. The first gutter ball I had throw in three weeks. Why now. To make it worse the team we were playing in leauge that game (we still won) managed to rub it in even more. Two of there players hit turkeys in the tenth. Then my team mate manages the same thing, a turkey in the tenth. Where none of them had hit anything close to that prior to me messing up my big 200. Granted I still had the high score but it ruined the rest of my games and I felt like **** the rest of the night. I still havnt hit a 200 since. I keep comming close though. My average is going up more every week so I'm sure it will happen soon. I guess I can lol at it now. Enjoy!!!

Well last 4 weeks I had a real slump didnt break 500 once ouch! My whopping low was 2 weeks ago for a 398 series with mighty games of 98,103,197 sad I know. But I have redeemed myself in the last 2 weeks with a 650 and 698 series.

Ok ok&#8230;so I KNOW I'm over these posts&#8230;but hey&#8230;I just found this site! Funny story &#8211; on Monday a friend of mine shot an 880 (he is a 220-230 average bowler). The funny thing is the Friday before he bowled a 494 in league and on Sunday he bowled a 523. Then&#8230;there was Monday!!

I just threw a 393 series and im on the high school bowling team in my area and i just threw a 540 series last match. not bad for bowling only 3 months

A couple of months ago, I had a 132 followed by 258 and 259. My excuse is that the lanes were **** for the first 6 frames before suddenly changing and giving me a good shot.

First off, Tray it was a 136, and second off, you sucked those six frames. Never post where a teammate may read

LOL I know I sucked the first 6 frames I was just using a random house bowler excuse because they make me lmao. The best one yet was from a guy that bowls at Yankee on Monday nights, he was whining that there was no oil on the lanes and he was bowling bad because he couldnt keep the ball from "hooking like crazy". I watched him bowl a few frames and his ball didnt move any more than 3-4 boards.

My Sunday Nite League..the whole season so far.
Lowest 470 and higest is a 609..avg 184

Compared to Thurs. Nite in the same house at a 201 avg with nothing below a 543 set.

I even bought a new ball for sunday..LOL..
Thurs roll a 256 with it then Sunday someone had to show me the way to the approach...

First game, 185. Okay, that's over average, good start I completely lost my mind and spare shooting the second game and boxed the first score for 158. Then my bowling brain said Gee, I wonder what will happen if I follow all the other bowlers and play straight up the 8 board.. 243. It would have been really cool to be exactly 100 pins over for 258!

As I'm new here I've been reading a lot of these threads and some may be out dated a little, but this response could overlap into a few threads.

Anyway scores should be taken into proper perspective. My highest game is not my best game. 116 by most would not be considered a good game, but it was the best game for my bowling career. At the time I was the best 165 bowler in the state, ahh let's be honest, best in the country. If you'd have asked I'd have told you too. Hot headed the whole nine yards. Well to try to make a long story short my 116 came on the heels of a 130 game. I was so ticked I walked out before the 3rd game of the set even started. I got home that night and did some reading in a bowling instruction book. In my reading I discovered that chances were really good that I'd never have to support my family with bowling winnings. It is a amazing the trasformation in my game and the respect I have gotten from the other bowlers, especially those that have been around awhile. My average has gone up nearly 40 pins since that night. If it hadn't been for that 116 I'd probably be a hotheaded 170 bowler today.

My advice to everyone... Keep bowling fun, especially during the bad games and you'll bounce back faster.

Been slumping lately myself. Got a bunch on my mind (trying to open a business), so concentration is way off. Shot a WHOPPING 479 two weeks ago, followed by 517 this week! Just got to get the mind cleared, and I'm sure it will all fall into place again. Besides, for some reason I seem to slump pretty much every year around the same time. Must be in the stars, or moon, or clouds...

Well this season I ended up at a 161 average, I'm down about 15 to 20 pins from last year. Heck at the start of this year I was going to stop bowling for awhile. But the closer to the end of the year came, the more I wanted to bowl. I've been doing alot of reading here, and have to say thanks in advance for the help and advice you people give. The last few years I haven't been concentrating that much on my game, or maybe I have been doing too much. Going to take that advice and make BOWLING FUN again. Just like its supposed to be.

Ok, worse game in the last few weeks was 122. What's even funnier is following that game I had games of 242 and 237. Haha!

I guess it's fair to say that after my first game, feeling like I didn't wanna be there cuz I was feeling yucky, I decided to just change my attitude and that was all the adjustment I needed to make.

I throw an average of 180, but the other week in league first night with a new ball, only had about two games of actual practice with it, i barely broke 100 hit a 107, thank God i managed to figure out the ball quicker to throw a 198, and a 227 to save myself.

i bowl a 174 average but not to long ago i bowl a 98 124 139 series just one of those nights when nothing went right.

Yesterday I bowled a 223, 178, 134, 193. The third game I never hit pocket andmissed a lot of spares. Cest la vie.

Our Junior League hosts a tournament each year where the instructors/coaches bowl with 4 junior in what we call the 'coach and fours'. Its a fun tournament that centres from all over England come and play in. The kids get a badge if they beat the coach of there team (scratch scores only).

Of course us coaches like to rib each other if someone loses to one of the kids. One year however after a neat dutch 200 I bowled a 91 game and needless to say was promptly beaten by 3 of the 4 juniors in my team. The other coaches never let me forget it either.

Went out to the lanes last Sunday for a little rest and relaxation after a long road trip (vacation). The house had just recently opened after a minor renovation and the shot was sweet. Shot 277, 225 220. Even if it was only for fun, it was nice to throw games like that! Now to do it consistently during leagues again. The competitive juices are flowing again, and I can hardly wait for the season to start.

Shot a 93 on the fourth game with my new ball last night. The scores were 121, 153, 128, then a 93. Thank goodness it was only practice.
