Another 279 last night, matching my all-time sanctioned high.
Left a 7 pin in the 7th frame due to throwing the ball just a bit fast with the ball not quite finishing enough. Last shot of the game, I missed my target my about 4 boards to the left, and somehow got a Brooklyn.

About 8 years ago in Moreno Valley CA. I shot a nice 289. Rung a 10 pin in the first, converted it and strung out 10 more and caught the same **** 10 pin in the 12th. If I remember correctly Vince Wood shot one of the notorious 900 series' there in the Cadillac Bowl. That's the closest I've come so far, a bunch of 279's in my bag but the 289 is the one I claim as my highest. Hope to shoot my first 300 when I return to the states after being in Europe for the last 7 years. Good Luck and Good Scoring!!

Great stories! My highest score was a 290 bowled in our team event of our city tournament. We had bowled the D&S on the previous day, and I just missed a 600. Same house, and felt that if I just stayed focused, I could achieve the 600. In the first frame, I left a 7 pin and converted the spare. I proceeded to bury my strikes all the way to the very last ball. On that ball, I was so nervous, and I ended up pulling the shot. It was a perfect brooklyn! If I never bowl a 300, I will at least know what it feels like to have that kind of pressure in the tenth frame! I helped our team take second place in the tournament, and I got an award for high scratch game and series (686).

My highest non-300 is 288, shot in a summer league. I had 300 back in 1995, and I can say that the same weird calm feeling overtook me and I starting running off strikes like no tomorrow. My only little slip was a tug on the 11th ball and I said Oops! 4-7, and that's what I left, and made the spare smile

Just recently(last week) I bowled my highest scratch game, 289 in league. I have bowled 6 300's in practice games, but its been well over a year since I had a perfecto. But even those games had some brooklyn's and headpin strikes. But lots of practice and determintation helped me achieve this accomplishment.

The 289 game had 10 flush strikes(no lie), and were exactly in the same area(maybe 2 or 3 board difference). The last(11th) frame strike, I couldn't keep my hand and leg from shaking..LOL! But I came down from the approach, and then started my routine over again. I threw the ball just a hair slower and came in a little behind the headpin, and the 6 pin tapped the 10 pin on the bottom right side....but it wasn't enough..it just wobbled in my face. I picked that up and even though I didn't get my first sanctioned 300 that night, I was happy at my mental game and consistancey displayed. :-)
