Hi all!

We are about 20% through the winter league season (dependent on your league schedule).

How are you doing so far? Better? Worse? About the same?

I am 5 pins down in each league so far after eight weeks. On Tuesday (team is in 5th place out of 8), I am down due to throwing a lovely 440 series. My other seven series were: 575-577-575-593-623-636-(440)-629. The 440, while right now is costing me 7 pins in average, will "only" cost me about a pin and a half at the end of the season (and if you compare it to my low series at that house the past few years, will only cost me about 3/4 of a pin).

On Thursday (team in 1st place out of 14), it's just the opposite. I've only had one 600+ series the first eight weeks, that being a 642 (I had a 599 also LOL), with most else being in the 550-570 range. Steady, but c rappy.

Average is down about 4 pins in two leagues (~195) where the house has changed to synthetic. One was wood, the other wood/Guardian. They're still dinking with the oil patterns to try and make things interesting without scaring people away, so time will tell. Most of my equipment is drilled skid/snap with the pin above the fingers, and I'm having to pull out a couple of my old leveraged pieces like my original Danger Zone and Pro Azure to deal with things while they make up their minds. Just another puzzle to solve, I guess. Builds character. . .

I am a little under average but that is normal for the first few weeks for me.

I'm happy to say that my average is 13 pins higher than last season. I can't take the credit for it because the center changed the lanes and everyone is doing much better this season. rotfl

See that crying icon? That about sums up my bowling. In a word - inconsistent! Thank God I'm in this for fun and not money. Since I haven't bowled in about 12 years, I'm really having trouble getting into a groove. I'm averaging about 130 on a Thursday night (6 PM) league but on a Friday night (9 PM) where I sub, I'm averaging about 141. Last Friday (after my first game of 135!) someone suggested I slow down on my approach. I finished my second game with a 173 and my third with a 154. Let's see what happens tonight. I'm also trying to get used to a new ball (Columbia Scout Reactive). This replaced an old Columbia White Dot that was 21 (yes, 21) years old - an antique! Like I said, thank God I'm in this for the fun.
PS - I love this site! And, this is my first post. Hope to 'see' you again soon.

I have breen bowling horrible these last two weeks of league. I started the first few weeks ahead of my average at 206 but now I have gone into a slump and am bowling in the low 500 series.

I'm bowling with a 163 book average this season. Last Season it was 171. At this point in all three leagues I can't even bowl up to the 163!!! We have completed about 9 weeks of this new season, i believe.
It's as if I've forgotten how to bowl! Any suggestions?

Hello all, my second post on this forum. smile

Well we are six weeks into league, and I'm down a couple sticks from my last year's book of 221. Right now I'm at 219, but I have actually been more consistent so far this season, as 17 of my 18 games have been over 200. Only one stupid 180 game I shot a few weeks back.

I've returned to league bowling after a 13-year absence, and since I bought a new ball (Classic Rock) 5 weeks ago, my average has climbed 6 pins, to 180. I don't think I've ever averaged more than 171 for an entire season, but there are still many more weeks ahead. I do bowl in an "easy" house though. Thinking of joining another league in a tougher house.
