Yeah I'm not a quitter either, I try to grind it out every week. My other league in a different center is 20 pins higher. I know all about mechanical issues, the pin setters at the Tuesday center are 1960s or earlier, the originals when they first put in automatic pin setters. They have a "new" machine that they are still trying to figure out. The first two weeks of the season, a good amount of oil, I was using my more aggressive, duller equipment going up the ten board or a slight belly from 12 to 7 and now I have to try to swing my Jazz from 20 to 5 and hope to still stay on the right side, or go to my Groove Urethane. I'm actually looking at some old equipment on EBay to try, like some old Rhinos, or Faball and Hammer Urethanes. We had someone use plastic and shoot 640+ against use a few weeks ago. The back ends in this place are just terrible. I was going to try something different this week but never made it. I ended last season at this same house at 190 in this league and 195 in another league there. This year the conditions are just terrible, and last year they weren't the greatest but playable, must have been decent I shot a 300 on it. This year you have to have no hand at all or be able to throw the ball over 20 mph from the left side to the right side and it scream back. I just can't do that, mainly because I can't get the speed to get the ball down the lane like that on a consistent basis.

I know how you feel about hurting the team, yeah I'm bowling bad and bringing my average down, but the big thing is we are losing, and slipping in the standings. We have a team that can compete with three bowlers that can average at least 190 or better and one that can average 170 or better. Right now its mainly two of them carrying us, the lower average bowler and a bowler without the amount of revs me and the other guy generate and I'm not really high rev. If I find what works, I'll let you know the secret, I'm not sure what its going to be short of putting oil on the ball before I bowl, and thats illegal.

Tonight was a soso night. Again, my whole team just can't put it together. Although we won 5 of 7, all of us are dissatisfied because we can't bowl together. 2 of us are up while 2 of us are down. Tonight, leadoff rolls 245 in first game followed be the second bowler of 214. I bowl 189 and the anchor a 169. Second game I get a 225 and the anchor bowls 214 while leadoff comes back with a 165 and the second has a 155. The last game, I was high with 182. That game we lost. We can't seem to all bowl well in the same game.

So I shot 596.

We were in 10th of 16 teams, only 5 points out. That's right. 10 teams within 5 points.

I've been bowling well lately. Broke 700 the last 4 outings, hope to continue things again on Sat nights league. Coach Jim, I'll be subbing on Sharon's team Monday, if you're there and have time come check me out.

What happened!! Maybe, I have broken out of my slump. Fresh oil, no other competition on my line. And, the Conqueror worked.

242, 251, 241 = 734. It was really nice having the line to myself. Bowled against 3 lefties and a straight. I subbed on a team with only 2 bowlers, a cranker and a tight stroker. So, I was all alone. I was in Heaven. I could move from 6 to 15 without anyone near me. Just played what the lane would give me. It was great fun.

Of course, the team I bowled against didn't appreciate this. I replaced a 202 average bowler with my 187 as a previous sub. But, bowling 173 pins over average was not what they expected. Sure, the claims of sandbagger came out, but it was in jest.

On my second ball, I dove high. A bowler on the other team said I rolled it too slow for these lanes, and that was all it took. Thanks. Speed has to match the revs.

Great bowling Dennis, I just bowled in my Saturday morning league and I've been doing well. I finally got my average up to 200 in this league and want to keep it there. Today I shot 183 194 and a 226. That last game saved me I had to play much straighter with my T Road Pearl and found something.

Nice going on the four consecutive 700s mkee19.

Nice rolling on the 734 Dennis. Its always nice when you have a line completely to yourself and have to make minimal adjustments.

Well tonight was a mediocre night. I was 31 pins under average on the night, mainly due to one game. I rolled games of 198, 165 and 191 for a 554 series. I had 18 strikes on the night, was 2 for 5 on single pin spare attempts making only a 5 pin and 10 pin from the two 4 pins, two 10 pins and one 5 pin. The rest were either splits including the 8-10, 6-7, 3-4-6-7-10, 2-8-10 and then several multiple pin leaves including the 2-4-5-8, 2-4-5 and 3-6-9-10 of which I only converted the 2-4-5. The single pin spares and splits just killed me. While I started the first game with strike, the 3-4-6-7-10 and then a 4 bagger, I felt that my last five frames/ six strike attempts were my best 6 shots. After trying to be smooth most of the night and being a bit off with speed or timing or accuracy, I brought my speed up a little and amped the revs a little and buried the pocket 6 times going four bagger 9 spare(10 pin) and strike. If it wasn't for the 3 opens in the first five frames that game would have been better. I stuck with the Purple Ogre all night. I did have some issues with tape on my middle finger, of my own doing. Didn't put it one right or tight and it started to move around on me and eventually made it hard to get my finger in the ball. It just wasn't a good night we only took 1 of 4 points, only because the whole other team was under average the first game, especially when my anchor's first two games were in the 140s and his last one in the 160s with a 185 average. We were in fifth but probably dropped. Next week is another week and hopefully I can bowl this Tuesday and beat that house.
