249, 279, 209 for a 737 set. These last few weeks of bowling are good confidence boosters heading into a tournament this weekend. Mkee19, you're on a roll. Keep it up.

We'll see what happens tonight. Because of a tourney today, our league was pushed to 7:30 pm instead of the usual 5:00. It may affect our game due to the time and lane conditions. Hopefully they don't leave us hanging like they did a couple of weeks ago. With only 8 weeks to go, if we are to make a run for 1st, now is the time. So let's get it on!!!

Worked out fairly well last night. We won all games, my son who is a beginner, avg of 137, bowled 20 pins over his avg the first 2 games, really helped us seal the victory. I was proud of him. I ended with a 660 series, 187/221/252. Could have had a 700 series if I had used the right ball the first game. Went with my Rule but the Freak Out ended up being the the ball of the day. That's cool, the team did well.

Hmmm looks like some posts were lost in the board outage.
Bowling is tonight. I went in and practiced and think I figured out what I've been doing wrong (this years average has plummeted to about 140). Since the lanes were resurfaced I've had to move much further inside than I'm used to. Took me awile but I noticed I've been pulling the ball alot more.. I've had a hard time keeping the ball inline with my mark since it's more of an angle to the right now. Well what I finally tried to fix it is I've started my stance with my elbow much further into my body (stomach) instead of out to the side. This has worked wonders so far, a 232 game last week and a few other 200's since then. Everything feels much smoother now and no pulling the ball. We'll see how things go tonight.

Greetings all. Yup, it looks like a whole bunch of posts have gone into the never-never! Just thought I'd check in and see how everyone was getting on but kinda hard to tell now. Personally, I have been scoring quite well the last few weeks... but I have been using my 14lb spare ball to do it! Lanes have been light oil, short pattern and VERY dry backends. These conditions do not suit any of the balls that I have so the little Optyx Snake Ball has been doin' the business, 'coz it is all I have that will deal with it ok. Have been averaging a bit over 170 which is 10 above (or more) my average, so I can't complain The only thing we have been struggling with is high handicappers who have been bowling 100 over per game! Man... that is tough to beat when you are giving up 80 - 100 pins already! We were in second place (5 points down) a couple of weeks ago, but the last two weeks have been toughies with the , dare I say it, sandbaggers coming to the fore. I think we may have drifted off the pace a little and probably dropped two or three places. My team has the lowest handicap in the league (20 pins - all mine)and by far the highest average, so we are always going to struggle with it. Not to worry, we have a week off this Monday, so I might get some practice in instead and try harder the following Monday. Godd luck and good bowling to all. Cheers, Allan

Hi Allan. Good to see you here again. Don't make it so long between visits. The good thing with the board outage is that all of our poor scores since March are gone. It's like we never bowled them.
Good bowling. Your average is picking up.
Dennis

Hi Dennis. Thanks for the greetings. I have been pretty quiet for a while, dealing with things other than bowling but I should update from my last post... My team did manage to hold onto second spot, and by quite a margin as those teams that were close all had disasters in the closing couple of weeks, where we swept and picked up points on the leaders. Not enough but it was close! Since the season finished, I have taken a break and not bowled at all until last Sunday. That was a bit of a shock to the system, but it wasn't as bad as I had imagined it would be. I will bowl some practice games this Sunday and league starts the following Tuesday. I have gone back into the trios league after a year off and will see how it goes. My son bowled the first 300 (his first) that has been bowled at our centre for eight years on the first night of the Summer Season. He did it bowling two-handed!! His team mate is a two-handed bowler so they decided to bowl the league that way. What a laugh.. my son has bowled countless 279s one-handed and never dreamed about doing 300 any other way. Just goes to show.... something! Right, I am off again but hope to pop in a bit more regularly this season. I wish you all good bowling and a Happy New Year. Cheers, Allan

Hi Allan, long time no hear. Now, we need tyveil and Lafont to return, and it would be like old home week.
Congrats to your son, I know you respect his game. Good to see his success.
Don't stay away so long. Where is the "skittles and beer"?

I kept the good scores rolling last night with games of 228-200-259 for a 686 series. We ended up winning by 5 pins, ONE pin and then losing by a bunch. We have had 5 out of 6 games in 2 weeks decided by 14 pins or less. That 228 game was a no tap 300. Every shot was in the pocket except but I had a few 7s and a 10 pin. The middle game was clean minus a split just couldnt get going. The last game was another game where I poured every shot into the pocket. That one was different though, for some reason I went with a fully cupped release and wow was I throwing a powerful ball. I had the front 7 before another 7 pin stepped in and then a 10 pin in the 10th. I haven't really bothered to throw like that but I see now the wrist is 98-99% better so I intend on getting some games in today with that wrist position as soon as the GF gets out of work. I'm finally inching closer to that 220 winter average goal I set for myself (218 currently).

Mike, I injured my bowling wrist a month ago. Just pulling my 4-ball roller across the parking lot, and had to pull it up over a curb to enter the lanes. When I pulled it up, something popped in my wrist, and is painful when I bowl. I can understand how difficult it is to bowl without full use of your wrist. I have resorted back to a wrist support. It is still painful, but I can manage the pain, just not the release. Glad your wrist is getting better.
