Paul,
I still think you would be better served if you looked into a lesson or two. Just a suggestion. wink

I agree with Eraser. Paul lesson might do you some good. Sometimes we struggle and struggle and just cant put a finger on what we are doing wrong. A coach has trained eye to see what may be wrong with your game that you cant.

Have you ever had a good night bowling and left the lanes feeling down because you opened in the last frame of the last game. I did that Thursday night. Started with 201 in the first game, 215 in the second. I had a chance to shoot 245 and give us a win in the third game, but opened in the tenth to shoot 210. Ended with a 626 series and only 1 game won.

I hate opening in the final frame because I take that bad feeling home and it eats at me for a couple of days.

Hopefully I can make up for it tonight and make the bad feeling go away.

Matt, try to let it go because it happens to all us. I have had nights where I bowl terrible and we win and nights where I bowl really good and we lose.

I have learned to let it go and just do the best I can and not let things get to me. Used to be I would let it eat away at me and it would only make it worse the next time I went to bowl because I was still uptight.

Eraser, I can relate to you because when I first came back a little over a year ago I got my average just a few ticks short of 175 and now I am hovering around 160.

Same problems for me. I have a tendency to want to guide the ball rather than throw it and do not adjust quick enough (sometimes not at all). I usually get going right around the end of the first game and then when the lanes start breaking down at the end of the second game I get lost. I do not make the adjustments and then I hit high and leave splits. That kills my momentum and splits really wreak havok on your average.

What I need to learn to do is rather than try to play with ball speed is move my spot and do it effectively. Once I can string some strikes in a spot rather than move I tend to try to throw it faster when the lanes breakdown. It usually does not work and the consitency I have goes out the window. Another tendency is too much adrenaline in that first game causing me to throw too fast.

Scott,
I have that problem to when i get lost. Mine is mental issue more i think. When i either change balls to quickly and not move enought or move too much and dont cange ball quickly enough. Last week probally a prime example shot a sold 231. Then lost second and third left way too many splits that resulted in too many opens. Probally should have move and stuck it out with the ball for a bit more than changing balls to quickly.

I had this happen to me today on the second game to tie us up. No tie after that. frown

Well, another so-so night. Started out awful with a 179. Brought it back with 220 and 226 for a 625 series. This puts me at 212 average thus far. This is way behind pace of some of the other bowlers in this league. Tonight I was grabbing it, throwing it flat, and just all over the place. Carry down was ridiculous on our pair. I hate second shift. If I don't shoot a 700 soon I'm gonna get really disgusted. We did take 3 out of 4 so it wasn't all bad. I just hate shooting 620's and 630's and lose ground to the other guys. It is my first time bowling league at this house. Once I get it figured out, it's game on. It's old wood lanes and second shift. First time i've bowled either.

Small subject change cool : Hey Matt, I see you are in Houma - that's near Luling, right? I used to live in Slidell. My dad moved to Luling a couple years ago and I will be visiting in about a month for Thanksgiving.

Okay - back to our regular scheduled programming.

I am still very new here so I don't know what everyone usually bowls but I have to say I am impressed with the scores that I am reading even if you are not. thumbsup
