For the second year in a row, the all-time American Bowling Congress league average record has been shattered. Jeff Carter of Springfield, IL averaged 261 for 69 games. In 23 weeks, Carter only had four sub-230 games.

Carter is the current all-time ABC approved 300 game leader with 63. Entering the 2000-2001 season, he held the record for most 300 games in a season with 16.

Re: Jeff Carter
I have read alot about the shot you are on averaging 261. If you don't mind. What is your current Regional PBA average and how much do you agree with the theory that the house condition you average 261 on is more than a little generous to high scores?
I do love Ebonite equipment by the way. Too bad they discontinued the Pearl Stinger.

13, to answer your question i would have to say that the conditions that i bowl league on are considered "soft". On the other hand the lane surface is guardian over wood ( very high friction surface ) so no matter what pattern you put out it plays drier than normal. Secondly the league that i set the record in alternated early and late shifts every week so this was a little more challenging than normal.

My PBA average is right around 218.

By the way, thanks for the nice comments everybody. Jeff Carter
