Can anyone give me a definition of Petersen Points. I want to use this system in a league but can't find a description of this system anywhere?

Although not official "Petersen" points, both leagues I am in are similar. Here's how both leagues go:

Players are sorted by average in the lineup.
Players 1 thru 5 bowl against each other respectively for a point each game.
Team total for each game is worth 4 points, making for a maximum of 9 points each game. Team series is worth 3 points.
30 points is the maximum possible each week.

Hope this helps.
If not, e-mail me at Burlbowl@aol.com and I can send you a better description right from my league's bylaws.

This is a huge pet peeve of mine...Very few leagues actually use the Peterson Point System. The majority that say (or think they do) in fact do not use it! mad

In a real Peterson Point System League the format is; 1 point for a win, 1/2 point for a draw, 0 for a loss, and each player receives 1 point for each 100 pins bowled. Bowling against the opponent's score or average has nothing to do with Peterson Points, that is an entirely different method and those systems should not be confused with the Peterson Point System.

If the league doesn't follow the 1 point for each 100 pins then it certainly is NOT a Peterson Point System League and calling it that is a gross misrepresentation that can cause lots of rule disputes.

Thanks guys. Is there a specified rule regarding Petersen Points anywhere to be found.? I have seen systems where a total score is divided by the specified number of pins to give the points but my idea of true Petersen Points would be to allocate the points on a game by game basis.
This would reward the bowler who bowls more 200 games for example.

ABC rules don't touch upon Peterson Points at all. To the best of my knowledge the WTBA doesn't either.

Again, it is not Peterson Points if each player doesn't receives 1 point for each 100 pins bowled. That is the definition of Peterson Points. If it is not done that way then it is NOT a Peterson Point System League.

You're describing an alternative form of Match Points.
