Hi

I am 14, almost 15 and have just got into my local league. I bowl with a roto grip spare tire ball, and I bowl aiming for the 4 pin from the middle of the lane. However, the ball drifts, sometimes spinning, and gets into the pocket. I can't stop this drift however, which makes spares difficult. Any tips would be much appreciated, I don't want to come last in the league!

Thanks

Tom

I think he's saying that his strike ball target is the 4 pin, and the ball hooks a little bit which makes it end up in the pocket. But when he shoots spares, he wants no hook.

I ge the hook when I aim at the four pin, but it makes spares difficult.

If you aim at the four pin, you're a righty, "and the ball drifts, sometimes spinning, and gets into the pocket" then you're bowling a back-up ball. This means that you roll your ball to your left (in the direction of the 4 pin) and it hooks back into the "pocket" (in between the 1 and 2 pins). This is one way to bowl, but IMHO not the best way. If you watch the pros you'll see that there aren't many of them that bowl this way. My advice to you is to find a coach and get some lessons. I must say that I wish I had done that when I was a beginner. The bad habits that you pick up now are very difficult to get rid off later.

Oh, and don't forget to have fun!!
