Lookin to pick up a spare ball in the pretty near future here. 10 pins are killing me...obviously the cheaper solution would be to just not leave the 10, but easier said than done. You don't need to spend a lot on a spare ball. Mine is an old Maxim that I think I paid $35 for years ago. As long as the ball feels the same as the rest of your equipment and it goes straight (or straighter than your other equipment), that is the ball for you. I didn't like having to use a spare ball but my 10 pin conversion rate has gone way up since making the switch.

I ordered a new spare ball only because mine had a few chips in it, but it game me five good years of work. I am probably in the minority that I need a spare ball if for no other reason than to take the guesswork out of spare shooting especially single pins. I just move my feet to correct board on the approach, shoot across 20 board and knock them down. And my spare percentage has soared since reading Bowling Execution and using the 20 board key for all my spares.

I went back to older equipment. My main ball I'm using is the Storm Paradigm followed by the Big One. Anything else I bought or have been using either doesn't feel right off my hand of doesn't help me on the score board. Of course the plastic ball is there for splits and ten pins. Lately I've been hitting the 10 pin clean. That being said I have a desire to get a new ball. Good thing I have enough control to hold off until the $ is there.
