Jock, a real peeve of mine is the lact of respect some people have for the equipment, monitors, ball returns, seats and tables. Garbage is routinely left all over. Popcorn and spilled drinks on the floor.
It makes you wonder why a proprietor would cater to clientel like this.
I guess the money is good enough to routinely employ people to maintain and clean.
The people I bowl with usually clean up after they bowl. I even make my bed before I leave a Hotel.

My biggest pet peeve is the guys that try to give you tips when your bowling bad and they are bowling good like were to stand and throw are you kidding me you don't even throw the ball like me. We're not talking about good bowlers here either, they throw a [censored] ball and the lane conditions are horrible for everyone but them and they are the only ones doing good.
I hate the to many bowling balls on the return too, i use 2 balls my strike ball and spare ball. The spare ball goes under the return out of the way. Some guys have 2 or 3 balls up there and the worse part is all of them react the exact same way on the lane lol.
Oh and i'm a smoker too and i hate waiting on a smoker. I wait till the end of the game after my turn i go have a cig if i want one by the time i'm done they are starting the next game and they didn't have to wait, have some common sense and respect other ppl.'s time ya know.

I get really annoyed by my dropoff between games; in my school "league" we did two games following some "instruction" (really the same questions phrased differently every time) and I noticed in the latter half of the semester I'd drop 30 pins off my first game, on a regular basis.

J.Brown, I'm with you on the amount of balls on the return. Most of them can only hold 12 balls. There are several 5 person leagues at the center I bowl in. That's 10 balls up their to start with, and just with that many that could be a problem with balls not getting out of the actual return or flying off the rack. Add in a couple people with spare balls, or multiple balls of any sort and its even worse. I have one ball on the rack, I can throw my strike ball straight at spares. When I do have a separate ball for spares I take a ball off.
Another peeve is bowlers not being ready to bowl when it's their turn and taking minutes to get up. Then there are the people that take a minute or more when they are on the approach.

I agreed with you totally. Especially when you are in a groove to bowl.

The cocky bowlers are the best to watch. They act like they are kings or queens but fail to understand that they can be beaten and yes, they don't do tournaments because of fears of reputation being put on the line.
