Hi, in our league, each team is allow to have 10 bowlers and our team we have 9. The diff in average of our bowlers are very huge, ranging from 140 to 190. As our captain is on business trip , I was asked to allocate bowlers for the time being. The way he allocate bowlers is very easy, every week there will be 3 different bowlers, regardless of their ave and our opponent. I find that this is not the right way to do it but instead should see who we are up against and plan accordingly. BUt with this planning, I am worry that there will be two bowlers will be bowling more regularly as they have higher ave and the rest will complain that it's unfair for them to bowl so regularly.
Do your league team have such problems ? How do you go about scheduling bowlers ? Thanks

Any time I've been on a team with more bowlers than could bowl every week, it was a regular roatation and everyone got to bowl equally.

The time to come up with how to do this is before the season starts. IMO, if you change how you're doing it durning the season whithout agreement from all of the bowlers, you're just asking for problems.

I never liked team subs. There is always a problem wih the schedule of each. A constant rotation of bowlers seems to be the best way to alternate subs and regulars. But, 10 bowlers per team seems very excessive. You may as well have two teams.
In your scenario, assuming a 5-man team, a bowler bowls for 3 weeks, then would be off for 5 weeks. Too much layoff.

When I sign up for a league, I sign up for every week. I expect the same from the others. I would hate to have to sit out a week and let a sub bowl, let alone 3 weeks.

I wish i had your problem on my League team people wanting to bowl. We only have three steady memeber in my teama nd the other two come and go and sometimes its big let down when they dont show up.

Well i would stick to regulary roatation so everyone gets a turn to bowl no matter about the match ups cause usally the ones with high average will bowl more. So better just to stick with a regular roatation to make it fair.

The only problems I see is if there are league rules for the minimum number of games that have to be bowled to qualify to bowl in rolloffs. If there are, rotating this many bowlers could put you at risk of many of them not having the minimum number of games to qualify to bowl.
