yeah sorry about your knee Murph. I hurt mine several years ago watersking and it hurts everyday, after I started bowling, it got to where it wasn't hurting as much anymore I guess cause of the exercise or something, but about a month ago my coach changed a lot of stuff about how I bowl and I guess I'm using new muscles or something but now it hurts all the time again.
funny thing is, it seems like the worse the pain is the better I bowl, I take a few Ibuprofen right before warm up and bowl a great first game in agony and then by the time the pain relivers kick in my bowling sucks again hah ah ha
try that Icy Hot leg-brace thing that Shaq advertises on television, it helps a lot

Thanks guys, the knee is an old sports injury that I never had taken care of. I re-aggravated it earlier this summer playing softball and it just keeps aching. I will be getting it taken care of this time. Next day my knee was feeling better and took a few advil before our ma & pa league. Felt fine and threw a 192,247,188. Go figure

Well I wish I had happier news to report, after last weeks understandable losses we still manage to stay in the middle of the pack. We went into the night knowing we wanted to take all 5 available. One problem existed though. My buddy and me decided to relive the old days and stayed up extremely late playing video games. I think I had all total 2 hours sleep in a 48 hour period. It was good times though. First game I hadn't gotten myself completley awake, bowled an embarrising 126, second game is when I caught my third wind. Bowled a 213 stringing a 7 bagger in the end of that round. Third game I was on a strong dutch 200 until the 10th, had a brain f.a.rt and missed a single pin spare ended up with a 189. If nothing else I know I have the stamina mentally and physically, when I need it. We took 3 of 5. Should have bowled over my average but because of my poor judgement, my first game held me to my average. Well theres always next week.

I sucked last night. Bowled ( 133, 195, 122 ). I haven't bowled that bad in months. In the warmup I threw several strikes and it looked like it was going to be a good night, but then the first game started and I opened the first three frames. Finally got it together toward the end of the first game but we lost anyway. Second game I decided based on the poor performance of the first game, that having a couple beers couldn't possibly hurt my performance. Boy was I wrong about that - a couple of beers turned into seven before I knew it, and even though I bowled a clean 195 in the second game, the third game I was too sloshed to bowl well at all and bowled a pathetic 122. My teammates didn't mind, since we one the first half of the season - we kind of had the attitude that we'd just party and have some fun for the second half which I guess led to me drinking too much. Next week I'm going to get it together and do better, take some lessons, practice, and do the things that were causing me to have good scores a few weeks ago. Its a lot more fun to make good scores than get beat.

If it's any consolation Mutilated1, I sucked as well (168/171/164) I have never bowled 3 bad games ever, 1 or 2 perhaps, never 3. I made every adjustment I could, I just could not find my shot. I don't blame anything but my failure to do what I normally do. But darnit , I hated not being able to help my teammates as I normally do with 200 or better games, 650 or better series. It's just a game, I have to tell myself. But I'm a competitor.

Well we'll do better this week I'm sure. I'm ready.
Bowled ( 239, 225, 214 ) at practice today - almost 700 series! Which for me is pretty remarkable because usually I'm pretty pleased with an occasional 600 series.
My release has been feeling really good practicing this week, and I think I'm getting the hang of moving before I miss the strike because I'm able to get a lot more strikes in a row now.
It might not happen tomorrow night, but I think one of these weekends before much longer I'm going to get that first 600 series on league night.

Well fellow bowlers. I'm fairly knew to these forums. Little history. I started bowling when i was around 5 with my grandpa. He gave me a pretty good foundation. I would bowl about onece every other year or so with house balls, usually scoring between 150 and a high of 233. probably averaging 170ish.
Well my friend asked me to fill in on his friday night league games, AND OMG im hooked.
Anyway, I took a couple of his old balls got them drilled for me finger tip, and started bowling. Boy was I disappointed. My starting average was 122. That was 4 weeks ago. WOW, so, I started practicing. I usually throw a straight ball. I was a little frustrated.
So last friday morning, I contacted my pro, and got a Storm Trifecta (15lb), and practiced an hour or so bowling with a hook. That night I bowled a 128, a 178, and a 152. (ya that is going to screw up my 122 average.)
Then on Sunday, I bought a wrist brace,-- I had a little wrist pain from an earlier sports injury. OMG what a difference that brace and practice meant. Last sunday during practice, I bowled a 212, a 185 and a 221. And the 185 game was me trying different releases to see what difference it made on the ball. Now all I gotta do is repeat on friday night.

Good luck Mutil. Good Job Kevin, hope it stays consistant for ya. If it does you have done better than I. My team this week after being temporarily scattered is now coming back to it's original form. Hopefully it will bring everyones attention back at performing and gaining ground.

I certainly hope so Mutilated1, even though we won three out of 4, we probably lost all 4 because there were 2 subs that were setting averages and one really sucked so she'll have a big handicap. And with me not at least reaching my avg, it hurt us. But this Sunday will be different, it's redemption time. Good luck to you as well and everyone else throwing this weekend, in league or tourneys.
