i had chosen my ball and the way i wanted it drilled so i could create my own swing and release. I had an average increase of 42.35 combined of all the leagues i was bowling in 2 years ago. I had chosen a
Hammer Diesel Partical, a
Columbia 300 Big Bully, and a
Columbia 300 Shadow R. Each have there own drilling specifications. Shadow R was drilled for me, a left hander, as a right handers ball with the standard drilling. Big Bully was drill for the right hander I bought it off of and never had it redrilled. I managed to chip their middle finger hole, now it releases off my hand so smoothly. The Diesel Partical I had it drill pin hole for a right hander, thumb hole 1/8 larger so I grip the ball to prevent overturning, and the fingers slightly tilted inward to help finger relaxation and release so I dont hang up in it.
My largest pin increase came on a Thursday night league. I increased 53 pins. I went from averaging 182 to 255. My smallest increase was my Saturday night league. I went from 174 to 208, an increase of 34 pins. I shot 2 800 series before I shot my first 2 300 games back to back. I bowled after league was over and shot 2 more 300 games. It was like I could miss from my stance and release. My two 300 games made my second 800 series.
Last season I shot 2 300 games and 18 725+ series in my Wednesday league. But I had a lot of trouble with splits the last 8 weeks and it was costly.
So as long as you have your preferences of equipment and stance for smooth release and timing with power and speed. You too can make many accomplishments. But you cant forget practice, practice, practice and stretch. You dont want to knot up or pull anything or your game will suffer.
