If RG refers to the placing of the core within the ball (higher rg=away from the center, lower rg=more in the center), then what is the point of a low RG ball if it comes in a top weight of over 3oz?

Isn't a top weight of over 3oz a lot-especially if you want the more smooth, less backend roll?

It seems like a low RG ball that comes in a top weight of 3+ would be contradictory in the point of having a low RG in the first place. Or am I not correct in understanding the terminology?

Or, does the rg dictate what the top weight of the ball will be?

The RG (Radius of Gyration) has to do with how fast the ball will spin, or how much energy it takes to make the ball spin on a given axis. It doesn't have to do with where it's placed.

The lower the RG, the sooner the ball will spin. The higher the RG, the longer it will take for the ball roll.

The top weight also has an effect, but you're also drilling out the fingers and thump and moving the CG around and possibly putting a weight hole in the ball so it's not somthing where you can make a blanket statement as far as the effect.
