looking for an aggresive layout for an asymetrical ball. keep in mind im lefthanded. My local Pro Shop drills a great ball, hes just boggled with a good layout with an asymetrical ball. I drilled up a bully about a month ago, pin above ring finger hole in side, ball goes long. problem is this the ball just rolls alot of role still hits the pocket hard but rolls a ton. Cant really cover many boards, looking for some input to this dilema over a drill pattern for a left hander.PLEASE, LEFT HANDED ASYMETRICAL LAYOUT NEEDED. thumbsup

You mention "doesn't cover a lot of boards". Well, you don't have to cover a lot of boards if you have accuracy and pocket entry angle. So while you may think you need more hook , you may end up with a ball that rolls out or a ball that is too difficult to control. Just watch some of the big benders in the house, they are usually in the 17 - 28 year old range. As soon as the shot dries out they are done. They have hook, but its too much and too uncontrollable. So you don't need hook to score.

The Bully is a great ball, as I and Coach04 have mentioned several times in referance to other topics. But you do need to keep it in condition. Dull or polished however you want it. After just a 1/2 dozen games, it needs treatment again.

Asymetric cores work best for me and then the leverage drill (pin 1:30) and a weight hole seems (6 - 9" out) to get the most out of the balls for me on the conditions I see. I've had other drill patterns and have had them work, but not on today's oily synthetics I see now.

Left hand and Right hand ball layouts are mirror images, there should be no problem laying out the ball.

The Bully is an early rolling ball, it is designed to be that way, so seeing a lot of roll should be no surprise.

When selecting a Bully to arch in a different pattern, you need to select one with a pin-out distance around 4 inches or more. The shorter the distance the earlier the roll.

I drilled up a 4.25 pin-out, and set my PAP to pin at 3.375, then used a Torgerson 73 degree layout, with a deep X-hole below the equator. It is a skid snap drilling on an early rolling ball. If the oil is there, it works perfectly. If it gets dry it will hook off the lane.

I shot a 711 with it last night in a tournament. Over the length of the tourney, I only moved a total of 7 boards, to cover all the transition for the night. I ended playing from board 35 out over the center arrow, and snapping hard into the pocket.

I was very pleased with the versatility I witnessed last night from that ball.

The thing about it is, having the drilling match your style of play. Drilling pattern wont make a cranker out of anyone. A cranker can crank a house ball for a hockey stick hook. What I have discovered on my Bully so far, more than any other ball I have thrown, is that I have to force myself to let the ball do the work. It will over react so easily to a squeezing grip, or a snapped follow through. You have to really let gravity control the shot on the Bully.
