they only make a good ball once every 5 years. they recently had one so they won't have anything good for a while! :p

Hello there...after a 20 yr absence from bowling, I am now making a comeback. Recently my new husband was looking in to getting me a new urethane ball to upgrade my equipment and better my game. My question is this: I was seriously considering the Blue Hammer, only to find out Faball now has the Blue Hammer 2001 out. Can someone kindly inform me what the major difference between these 2 balls are? I can't seem to notice any in Faball's literature about them. Your kind response is greatly appreciated in advance. :p

The New Blue Hammer 2001 is a particle ball and is much more aggressive than the original, more tame, Blue Hammer.

In simple terms, particle balls contain glass beads in the coverstock to grip the lanes more so they'll hook earlier and more.

I own 2 Hammer balls, The No Mercy and the Cherry Vibe. Hammer Doesn't make terrible balls, but you do need to keep up on you maintenance. Especially with the High performance line balls, The Vibe isn't to bad and should last longer, But I had to go out and buy the Powerhouse clean n dull for my No mercy. I was using the Energizer on it and I wouldn't recommend using it on that ball. It made the cover stock to glossy and the ball won't hook on any lanes kinda just straightens out as soon as it hits the lanes and rolls out no matter how much I get around the side of the ball. It's having trouble skidding on the lane and storing energy because the pores are clogged. Keep in mind I've only had the ball for 4-5 months and only threw 50 games or so with it. Besides that ball I love my vibe. I've only had it for 2 weeks and I shot a 276 with it and a hand full of games in the high 200's. The No mercy was awsome too right out of the box, Just didn't know what cleaner ect, to properly maintain the ball. So yeah if you want a good Hammer ball without the hassle of constant maintenance you should look at the Raw Hammer and Vibe Lines, Just because it says Mid performance don't let it sway you away from trying one out. Personally I like my vibe better then the Higher performance No mercy.

I have no complaints with Hammer (the few Ive tried) other than they tend to die out quickly. I've thrown all 3 Black Widows and the original one earned me my first ever sanctioned 300 game. I wouldn't rebuy the Pearl but the other 2 I would in a heart beat and I can't say that about many bowling balls.
