Before the Pro Shop i used to goto moved across town i always had the same guy drill all my balls.
Due to the overreaction i get on medium to dry lanes my driller came up with a layout that he calls "Weight Block in Palm." Generally he would find a ball Pin-In or at the most 1" out and put the pin at 12 o'clock
from CG in the exact center of my span.
This drilling is awesome for me as it lets me play closer to where the rest of the field is when my Leverage drilled equipment would make me play fifth arrow or deeper.
My questions are... Is there a common name for this type of drilling and does anybody else use it?

it sounds like the drilling your refering to is a basic label drill, except using a pin in ball!i have heard it called pin in palm also. it's really a control, arcing type drill & very usefull for drier or over reacting lanes.the way lanes are being dressed on the drier side,& with balls getting more aggressive,i see more & more bowlers using label drilled equipment even more so if you can supply the hand !! smile

The layout you are describing is commonly known as GRIPLINE layout. Bot the PIN an CG are located on the Centerline or Gripline.

Mike

Thanks for the replies. I found out where my old Ball guru is now working so he should be able to fix me up for the next ball.
I wish i'd had the foresight to have all my balls drilled mild.
