Okay...so I had the idea to bring my ditigal camera to a house tonight so my friend can record my throwing. I'm looking at these clips of myself and I look AWFUL!!

First off...my approach is terrible with me drifting to the left on EACH STEP!

My timing is off from my pushaway to my Pro Zone step.

And my slide is basically to the left side of the lane.

The only thing I can say I did okay tonight was better release timing since I practiced with a pool stick yah high sitting on a chair but because of my messed up delivery my arm was release to the left, down the middle, and too far to the right.

Any suggestions?

The best thing to do is to see a good coach. It can be a little pricey, but if you are serious about improving your game its really the only way to go. You can ask friends to watch you bowl, video tape yourself etc., but if you don't know what you are looking for you won't know what to work on to correct any flaws.
If you are interested I have a good coach in Farmington Hills, Mi...not to far from Ann Arbor.I personally drive almost an hour to take lessons from her and find it WELL worth the effort. smile

I second Eraser - it may not take a bunch of lessons to at least get you going in the right direction.

How much does your coach charge for lessons?

She charges about 50-55 bucks for about an hour. She is a gold level coach and former pro bowler.
I think its well worth the money, she opens my eyes to things that I never even considered to be the reason I was having trouble .

I think you will find there is a range of pricing for coaching. I know we have some USBC certified coaches that contribute here, so they would have the best insight.

Depending on area, half hour vs. hour, video vs. no video etc... in my area I have seen a range from about $30 up to $80 ($80 included video and a DVD of the lesson when it was over).

So check around and get referrals!

Gunstariq, My guess is that you’re really not as far off Track as you think you are. Most of us tend to be hypercritical about our own form. A lesson or two should be able get you on Track and play it from there. You can only absorb and implement a limited number of changes at any one time anyway. Work on a few points until those are no longer issues and go back for more. One of the great things about bowling is that you can continue to improve for years if not decades.

I had posted a similar reaction to the video of myself in the beginner's thread. It did not take much to correct the major problems I had; i.e., muscled swing, straight arm, improper release. Of course, I did not notice my three step approach. brickwall LOL!
