I have been making really nice progress with my game in general. However there is 1 game every week in league that is significantly lower than the others. It is almost always 3rd game. This week I bowled 193-235-169 for a 597. I have a very hard time adjusting to the extremely broken down conditions of the 3rd game, it seems like i have to make an adjustment left a 1/2 board or so with every ball, its not unusual for me to end up 10-12 boards left of where i finish the second game when i finish the 3rd.
Any suggestions? A few weeks ago I threw my plastic in the third game from the place I would ideally start the first game, I think i scraped out a 194 that game but it was never in any danger of being a great game.

Maybe the 1/2 board every frame is not enough. Maybe you need to move 1 or 1 1/2 boards every other frame. And you also need to move your target. Are you moving your target too? Because when lanes break down as dramatically as you've described there's no way to stay lined up if you do not also move your target.

Yeah I am moving my target as I go. I stayed after league and bowled a couple of games to try to see how I might be able adjust to those conditions. I dont get that far inside on a regular basis, so it is foriegn to me. I might strike, I might split, I might freak out and say some really bad words =).
What it comes down to is its hard to trust the move I am making when its every frame or every other frame.

Have you tried making a bigger move, like 2 with your feet and 1 with your mark instead of trying to limp along with 1/2 board adjustments?

The silver lining is that you know what you can work on in practice the next few weeks. If you can find a time when the lanes are breaking down (like after a league) that's perfect, but even if not you should throw a bunch of practice games with a more inside line. get used to it and figure out what you have to do different in order for it to work.

This weekend I practiced a couple games between the 4 and 5 arrow. It took me almost that whole time to get a few strikes, and I don't imagine I'll need that shot in league any time soon, but at least I have some idea of what to do. That kind of directed practice time, I think, has been the biggest help to my game lately.

Its all experience and putting that information in your head and making it comfortable. Takes some time. Like I said...few more bad games and any solution is going start looking easier.

I guess thats the answer then, if the only time i see that condition is the last game of league... drumroll/lightbulb... stay after and practice so i'm comfortable when that condition happens. wink thanks erin
Thanks lefty and chris for your ideas. I need to stop being afraid of that inside line when thats the only thing the lane is giving me.
