I mentally visualize the line my ball will take to the pocket, and then I apply that to the lane.

Once I have a mental picture of where to throw, I look at my targets step by step as I approach. I take a 5 step, so here's my checklist.

Step 1: After making sure hips, shoulders and feet are aligned to the arrow target, and that my ball is at the proper height to create the speed I'll need, and the wrist is perfectly straight(my revs come from my hand at release point), I take my first step, looking at my arrow target.

Step 2: I make sure my pushaway is in perfect sync with my step, so all senses are focused on that, and in a general sense, I'm looking at the lane.

Step 3: I look out at my breakpoint, now confident I'm walking toward my arrow target, and keeping in mind where it is on the lane. I draw a line in my head from my breakpoint all the way back to the arrow, and then back to.....

Step 4: ....the foul line. I make sure I have hand behind the ball without cupping my wrist as my downswing begins. So, once again, I tune out the target, because I know exactly where the ball is going by now. I have it locked on, and ready to fire.

Step 5: Making sure I slide in perfect timing with my release, and making sure I come out of the ball clean and open handed (no gripping, but enough lifting to auger the ball into the wood), I'm looking at the foul line at exactly the point I traced from my breakpoint in my mind on step 3. My shot is totally locked in, and barring a stupid release mistake, it's usually a good shot.

Welcome to the site.
Sounds like you could right a book. Stick around, answer/ask some questions. This is almost as good as bowling.
Keep on bowling
