I have noticed, when watching the PBA telecasts, that most of the right-handed PBA Tour bowlers walk anywhere from slightly to significantly left. I have seen it be anywhere from 2-10 boards. The foot level camera angle gives the best vantage point.
My question is, why do they walk left? I have read articles by Susie Minshew about body tilt during the approach and delivering the ball under your chin, for maximum leverage. Does walking left help with this, or compensate for the head tilt?
When I try to walk left it feels awkward, and I wind up pulling the ball, mostly because I didn't walk far enough left to hit my target properly.
Any thoughts on this topic?
