I'm thinking of purchasing a bowling ball shammy for wiping down my ball. What's the best shammy that's fairly inexpensive? Can you write on one and wash it and still have the writing on it? Which side do I use to wipes the ball or can I use either side?

A bowling ball shammy is made from flexible leather I think. I wouldn't write on it. The deluxe version of Storm's shammy has two different textured sides. The less expensive one I don't have, but I would guess it has two identical sides on it. They're easy to clean and there are instructions on the packaging. They don't need much cleaning if you use them to clean your ball during normal use during a bowling league, etc. Hope this helps...
