Seriously, if any of these get approved over bowling, I will stop watching the Olympics.

Isn't pole dancing what they do at the local Strip club?

Lap dancing is next.

Maybe they have to improve TV ratings.

I suspect that bowling isn't popular enough to warrant the cost of a bowling venue and then what would be done with the venue when the Olympics end?

If the Olympics were made up from amateurs, maybe, but with most sports dominated by professionals, how many countries could actually fields a competitive bowling team?

The PWBA only has members from 10 or 12 countries. The PBA may have even fewer. For the IOC it's a no-brainer. Why have an event where just a handful of countries will walk away with all the medals?

It's a shame with the Olympics being held in Tokyo, Japan in 2020 that it could not a least be an exhibition sport. Japan has the worlds largest center in the world and which could easily host the bowling event. The Inazawa Grand Bowl in Japan has 116 lanes.

The alternative to the Olympics start this week. The 2017 World Games in Wroclaw, Poland

WORLD GAMES BOWLING
Starting with just five member federations in 1952, World Bowling grew to 110 member federations in 2010. World Bowling has member federations located in all five Olympic regions and with more than 100 million participants, 5 million competitors and 250,000 bowling lanes, it is one of the world’s largest organized sports.
World Bowling has been recognized by the International Olympic Committee since 1979 as the governing body for bowling sports.

I always said, if you want to attract higher bowler numbers, have a topless Friday. Charge admission to enter, and real high bowling prices.

Pole dancing in the lounge too.

Having a high worldwide participation rate isn't important. Here's a little to explain why bowling isn't an Olympic sport yet;

------------------

The Olympic Charter indicates that in order to be accepted, a sport must be widely practiced by men in at least 75 countries and on four continents and by women in no fewer than 40 countries and on three continents. The sport must also increase the ‘‘value and appeal’’ of the Olympic Games and retain and reflect its modern traditions. There are numerous other rules, including bans on purely ‘‘mind sports’’ and sports dependent on mechanical propulsion. These rules have kept chess, automobile racing, and other recognized sports out of the Olympic Games.
