So much of what we learned in the past is going by the way-side now. After starting out as a stroker throwing a full-roller, in the early 70's I began to cup my wrist and converted to a cranker throwing a 3/4-roller with lots of RPM's. I used to use lots of thumb-reverse to make sure I didn't hang up coming out of the ball.

Today, my thumb is tight, with very little reverse. It allows me to relax my grip, which relaxes my wrist, which relaxes my forearm which relaxes my bicep and tricep. The result is a completely relaxed arm-swing with a nice flip at the end which generates more RPM's than I ever could trying to crank the ball.

Today's game is much better than yesterday's game and it's much easier on our bodies. I watch the women. When I watch a person who weighs 120, throwing 15 pounds, 18 MPH with 350 RPM's and saws out 5's like Belmo, I pay attention.
