Started a new summer sports condition league last week. Five weeks on the Seoul 39' pattern, then five weeks on medium and five on long pattern. Pretty good prize fund as well.

New this fall is a sports condition league, different patterns used all season. $5,000 first place team.

Very nice to have this set up this year, been trying to get it for awhile.

That's awesome Steve. Really wish we had something like that around here. I did a sport league the last 2 summers (not doing it this summer) but it was 2 weeks per pattern and no prize money. I think focusing on 3 patterns and doing 5 weeks for each one is a lot better way of doing it. Hope the fall one works out well also. Hopefully the prize money keeps people from quitting after their average drops initially.

This is the result of a young whippersnapper's hard work and drive. I think it's too bad that it takes bigger prize money for people to join. But these are small leagues, hopefully the Fall league will draw the 48 - 60 bowlers to make it happen.

I typically find that it's not the best bowlers that want to do this, myself being a case in point. We're looking forward to it.

I am also in a summer sport league...five conditions over 15 weeks...28 players. I am NOT very good at this...LoL

Speaking of competitive, my Sunday AM singles league (40 players) has not had a repeater at the top for the last 10 years, and this year, only 3 of last year's top 10 were in this year's top 10. Not a tough shot by any stretch, but VERY competitive. They ARE crazy though...We bowl at 1020 in the AM, but these guys will tailgate in the parking lot starting at 8AM in the good weather...hot dogs, sausage, beer and wedge shots at a toilet 100 yards away off a carpet remnant. Pretty fun batch of guys...played poker at the banquet with a handful of hardcores.

That is awesome. That is the one thing I miss since sanctioning adult. No sport shot leagues near me. As a youth I bowled a travel sports shot league, and summer and fall sport shot leagues. Of course all of my college matches are sport patterns but it would be nice to be able to bowl them off season. Hopefully as more of my friends sanction as adults we can get some put together. As of now it seems the majority of the league bowlers around me want no part of a sport shot.

The last two weeks my mechanics have become rusty already, and the shot has magnified the problems. Back to practice today. After this week, we start in on the longer patterns. Looks like a good turnout expected for the Fall sports league, so I have to start getting serious here.

It's amazing how much harder it is to start a team for this league, most seem to want the auto shot to the pocket.

I bowled in a sport league a couple years ago and really enjoyed it. While there were lots of struggles and very tough nights, in sport league you don't tend to have the whiners. Everyone knows and accepts what they've gotten themselves in to.

Sadly, that league kept dwindling, and once USBC pulled the special awards for sport bowling, the league collapsed and has become more of an organized practice.

Well no awards needed for our fall sports league, 1st place team gets $5,000.
