So, I spend a lot of time getting my hand into the ball, and have a lot of rotation. However, this works best with ball speed.

I have had my second knee procedure and have lost about 5 mph on my ball. My hand is now way too strong, for most conditions. this results in early ball turn, and lower scores.

I've tried to pick up speed with longer push off and arm extension. But, its not enough. Only roll at 13.5 mph. Stronger balls are not for me as they are uncontrollable with this slow speed.

Considering a Urethane ball, which I have never had. your thoughts.

I'm tired of using my spare ball for 2 of the 3 games. And, slackening my hand or letting up on my release is inconsistent too.

Dennis,

Due to my rev-dominant game, I fought not so much early but agressive turn for a long time. After reaching my tipping point and experimenting a bit while practicing to see if it would work, I have only used urethane equipment since the beginning of last season. I (thankfully) kept my Ebonite Turbo from high school and it's now my benchmark ball. I also have a Super Natural that works great when the Turbo starts to move too soon and then doesn't come back when I try to play inside. With urethane, I can play straighter angles with my A game release. I know it's only for 6 games, but I'm averaging 245 for my last 6 games using an over 20 year old urethane ball. I'm bringing this up because as long as it matches your game, you can shoot high scores and carry with urethane in today's game.

I'd try to snag an original urethane ball first, preferably one with a core from the later urethane era. There's a ton of late urethane era balls that I would want to use just to see what they will do. That's probably going to be tough, so I'd look into The Judge that nord got recently or maybe the new Black Hammer.

Mark

Do you have a 4 step or 5 step approach? I picked up speed without exerting any extra effort when I transitioned to the 5 step approach. The 5 step approach made a world of difference for me.

Welcome back Dennis. Been a while.

I agree with Mark. Having a urethane ball with a core is a must for today's conditions. I have a Natural that I use a lot. The Super Natural is a good ball but still may be a little strong.

Finding one of the older ones may be a little hard because more and more people are having to do the same thing.
