Did not bowl up to my expectations. Tough conditions out there.
Shot 1600, doubles killed me, 476. Avg'd 180 in team an was 20pins short of a 600 in singles. The splits were very hard to avoid.

Well, it's always a safe assumption you're bowling everything in the Open; there are very few bowlers who are only bowling the minor events (doubles & singles).

So let's say maybe north of 30,000 bowlers?

7250 teams of five comes out to 36,250 bowlers. A lot of teams will bring a sixth bowler for doubles and singles only since there are six bowlers to a pair for those events. The USBC is also keeping registration open through the entire tournament to entice more entries. With late entries, it will likely get close to 40,000 bowlers.

champ, I'm sure a lot of teams will still bring a ten-bowler group, too: Two teams (we've always said companion team is important) and five pairs for doubles. smile

Whenever I've bowled the tourney, I always take an even number of teams. Makes it so much easier.

Patty Turner (39, R, Oak Lawn, IL) recovered from 8th and 9th frame splits in the third game to post games of 228, 236, and 178 for a 642 series, tying her with Dave Berky of Ely, NV for the Classified Singles lead. She is a back-up bowler, and had no idea where she was going to place until after she finished.

Low to cash as of 6/1:

Regular Division

Team: 2,634
Doubles: 1,067
Singles: 553
All-Events: 1,712

Classified Division

Team: 2,212
Doubles: 908
Singles: 457
All-Events: 1,439

I need to pack and ship out my balls this Monday or Tuesday by Bowling Ball Express.

I am only shipping 4 balls:

Storm IQ Tour Solid
Motiv Venom Shock
Motiv Venom Panic
Columbia 300 Blue Dot (Spare)

My style is low speed and low revs. Any thoughts or comments about my selection?

FYI, I will be bowling Bowling Team on Friday, July 10 and Singles/Doubles July 11.

UPS has my package, it'll be in El Paso way before me. With my main balls gone, I'll use my 14lbs balls to practice with. Need to stay sharp.
