Scott Endersbee (32, R, Waite Park, MN) was unaware that a double in the 10th frame would give him the Regular Singles lead, but still delivered three clutch shots to put up a leading 785 series on games of 268, 238, and 279.

Also last night, Artistic Expressions scored 3,088, a far cry from their record 3,720 of last year, but their score this year was still good enough to move them into the top 10 in Regular Team.

Darin Ziemer (30, R, Fargo, ND) and uncle Michael Heck (Browns Valley, MN) overcame travel problems to post 644 and 517 sets respectively and take the Classified Doubles lead with 1,161.

A clutch performance in the last frame, completed by former Team USA member Rob Gotchall (Clarksville, TN), enabled Team NABR (W. Henrietta, NY) take the Regular Team lead after games of 1,057, 1,123, and 1,188 for 3,368. The group also includes PBA regional standout Brian Waliczek and 2007 Regular All-Events champion Mike Rose Jr., as well as Adam Barta, whom many bowlers in the social media will recognize for being behind "Barta Nation" and who also recently set a new Guinness record for pinfall in one hour by an individual.

Rob Gotchall posted sets of 679 in doubles and 719 in singles to add to his 783 effort in team and now leads Regular All-Events with a 2,181 total. Gotchall is one of 28 bowlers with multiple 300 games on the championship lanes, and has appeared on most of the annual average lists at some point.

Its a real testament to Jr USA Support's 10,064 that a team bested them in the team event AND had a bowler take the lead in regular all-events, yet still come up nearly 200 pins short of the lead in Team All-Events.

I have to think 10,064 is a near lock for a win. And that makes Anthony LaCaze a near lock for the USBC Hall of Fame once he's eligible.

I'm leaving in just over a weak. Bowling on the 3rd and 4th. Anyone here been there yet?

For those interested, Riggs had an interview with USBC Executive Director Chad Murphy on his blog about the future of the Open Championships.

I'm hoping that Chad will be in that position for some time. It takes awhile to get a train back on the tracks, but I think many are underestimating the good deeds planned at the USBC. IMO, one of the hardest tasks in front of them will be the credibility of the lanes nationwide.

I may be wrong in assuming too much, but I think they're goal is to make the word "Sanctioned" mean more than it does now. It could reduce the ranks of sanctioned bowlers, but put the sport back on track for a gradual increase over time. Definitely an uphill struggle.

I agree Steve. Chad has done a lot of good in a short period of time, and I think with the more time he has in the position, the better things will get.

I also think a competent executive level leader who is also a very accomplished and respected bowler is a rare and valuable combination. Chad may be the only shot the USBC has in combining those two assets. They must take this time to lay the groundwork for his successor, whoever and whenever that may be.

Our organizers picked squad times during the last week of the tournament (July 10 and 11) to bowl. There will be slim pickings at that point I imagine.

Gregory Engelkes (29, R, Cedar Falls, IA) got to celebrate the fourth perfect game of the tournament with his father, as it came in doubles and his father was his doubles partner.

Just hours after Clark and Carl Poelzer relinquished control of the Regular Doubles title, Mark Sleeper Jr. (31, R, Kaufman, TX) and Anthony Simonsen (18, R-2, Princeton, TX) became the first pair this year to eclipse the 1,400 mark to take the lead, with Sleeper posting a 744 series and Simonsen adding 665 for a 1,409 total.

(R-2 = two-hander, right-hand dominant)
