I have picked up the 2-8-10 twice. I watched a team mate pick up the 5-7-10 about 10 years ago

I am relatively new to bowling only about a year and I strongly believe in a spare ball.

I did use I Columbia Rock Pearl and taught my self to flatten my wrist to take out the ten pin but was never able to really get any action on the pin because I was always to nervous abut throwing it in the ditch.

Now that I have my target zone I have picked up an 8-10 and a 4-6 but I try my best not to leave any splits lol.

That's why I'm happy that I am finally getting pretty consistent with my hooks. A hook leaves less splits than a straight throw.

Even though I dont use a separate spare ball myself, I definitely reccomend it to anyone who cant make right side spares (left side for lefties) with their strike ball and release.

IF you can't get it done with a small change, (such as moving your little finger out..away from your grip) definitely go to a plastic ball and use your normal release.

For most people, it's easier to have ONE release for all shots...the last thing you need on your mind during your approach is which release to use. You're supposed to be thinking ONLY of your target...anything else is just a distraction.

That's why I'm getting a spare ball in 2 weeks.

Get a spare ball! Spend millions of dollars on hardware! Hahaha. I bring on a three ball bag to practice and league. A Hammer Blade Reactive Pearl/Storm Xfactor (depends how I'm feeling) for the strike ball, a Hammer Diesel Particle for left sides spares and a Hammer Everclear for my 10 pins.

Although I was in a big slump after my summer hiatus, my spare shooting has been reborn. A spare ball helps.

I bought the plastic Zone for 1-2 pin spares which is great. The Zone ball is 1/2 pound lighter than my other equipment so I can put a little more speed on the ball and it is easier to control being lighter.

That's something I was wondering. My 2001 Blue Hammer is 15lb. Should my spare ball be 15lb to stay consistent, or should I go 14lbs for more speed?

I wasn't sure myself until I went out on a limb and bought the 14 1/2 pound Zone ball for spares to try it out. It is much easier to control being lighter and the extra speed comes naturally. I wasn't really sure if just 1/2 pound would even make a difference but it does. I've personally found it easier to make my spares. My other bowling balls were around 15.5+ pounds out of the box and my spare ball was 14.10 pounds before drilling.
