Haven't been posting much about my bowling in the last few months but I've been doing well in my Tuesday league. Tonight a new milestone, 248+267+259=774 which is my new high series. Had 9 strikes in each game. Was really hoping for the honor score; had the front 7 in each of the last two games but left a 10 pin in frame 8 both times. Getting closer. Converted all of my spares as well (only 1 multi-pin combo tonight, the rest single pins).

Out of curiosity I looked it up. Pretty neat that your center is inside of a casino.

For them the league just doesn't seem fun any more, and maybe that is part of it but I just don't feel the drive I once had to bowl. All of us of pretty much decided not to bowl next season.

I've been there. Understandable. Also Saturday can be a tough night to commit to 30+ weeks of bowling. Perhaps you could consider subbing next season and not have to commit to a full season if you still decide you still want to bowl some. Good luck either way.

I've considered the thought of subbing. It would be nice to get enough games in to record a book average if I choose to return full time the following year. As for bowling on Saturdays, there wasn't much of a choice. I have to get up early during the week so trying a league on a week night makes the next day difficult. Another reason I've been thinking of taking a break from the game is some discomfort in my hand and wrist that isn't all bowling related.

Tonight's bowling, frame-by-frame (Linked to BowlSK sheet)

I definitely found it tough to carry tonight (18 single pins), but neither did I help myself by missing single pins (five out of those 18). My spare game was at least better in the first game, and my only double of the night was in the 10th of that game to help me get to 190.

Result: 193-137-159=489
Average (93 games): 167
Average for last 9 games: 169
Next week's AVG+1 score: 565

Barry and I had the two best nights on the pair, but that could only net one point (the first game).

My night on the lanes. I went clean through the whole first game and the second game until the tenth frame when I left a 10 pin when the ball hung onto my thumb at the release. I followed that up by chopping the 6 off of the 6-10 the very next frame to start the next game. I then had a run of 7 clean frames before back to back opens in the ninth and tenth frame, which the tenth was another missed 10 pin. I went 216, 226 and 183 for a 625 series. As a team we took 5 of 7 points. We won the first two games and total.

Tonight's bowling, frame-by-frame (Linked to BowlSK sheet)

This started out like a copy of the week before last, with my teammates both having had to pre-bowl again, and I was struggling with some physical game issues early. However, unlike last time, I rallied late to save a 152, and bowled better the remainder of the night.

Result: 152-185-181=518
Average (96 games): 167
Average for last 9 games: 169
Next week's AVG+1 score: 551

My late rally in the first game was more or less needed for the point, but, though we won two games, our opponents got hot in the third game to steal total.

Finally played my A game last night. Dry as usual, I had a game plan and stuck by it. Dry lanes all the way, I was determined to follow a strong line standing on 23, downlane to 12 or so. My speed was stable at around 15 - 15.8 all three games. Playing further right or inside is not my A game.

I started out with the Byte giving me good pocket hits, both frames 1-2 leaving ten pins. Adjusted ever so slightly forward, and mostly strikes thereafter (leaving a 7-10 split in frame 5). 241.

Game 2 was acceptable at 200 even, some sloppy spare shooting. I switched to the Hy Road Pearl during frame 6 of game 2, and rolled it steady all the way in finishing at a 204 and a 645 series.

Instead of wandering around looking for better lines and a larger angle of entry, I decided to play consistent, and strong. Much of my April leagues has been too much thinking, too much moving, no confidence. Taught me a lot about my Crux, Byte, Hy Road Pearl too. The HRP is a great ball to transition to when the angle of the Byte gets to be too much.

Summer league will be used for practicing the basics, and making my footwork more consistent and powerful. I'll end this league with a 180 average, which is at least 20-30 pins less than my goal. Spare shooting and focus appear to be the weak points.

We had two shifts of bowling today since we had a week missed early in the season due to snow. First shift warm-ups started at 1 PM and then the lanes were re-oiled for the second shift that warm-ups started at 5:45. This is how the first shift went for me. First game I had good control, stayed clean with only one really bad shot for a 213. The second game things spiraled downhill a bit. Opened the first two frames and again in the fifth and couldn't put more than two strikes together for a 183. The third game I went 180, still had control issues and only put together one double. Total was 577.

The second shift went a bit better and pretty consistent. Here is all the details for it. The first game I only had one open but once again couldn't put more than two strikes together for a 198. The second game I finally got a turkey toward the end of the game but had two opens early for a 194. The last game I had trouble carrying all ten more than one frame and missed two 10 pins for a 196 and 588 series.

As a team we won 3 of 7 points the first shift. Took the first game by 10 pins scratch before our 111 pins of cap was added. That was enough to hold on to total even though we lost the last two games. The second shift we won 5 of 7 points dropping only the second game by 8 pins.

Tonight's bowling, frame-by-frame (Linked to BowlSK sheet)

I might have been able to raise my average with a better second game, but I was happy I was bowling better toward the end of the season, so I'm hoping to rebound next season.

Result: 185-139-192=516
Final average (99 games): 167
Average for last 9 games: 169

The second game was really our undoing, as none of us had a mark in the 6th and 7th frames other than what the vacants provided. Barry bowled better bookend games, as well, and those were the two points we won.

Had a horrible outing at league tonight. I should have never bowled after some sliding issues in warm-ups aggravated my slide knee and lower back but I tried. I finally gave up after the second game, should of did it after the first game. The very bad two games I did bowl. As a team we only took 2 of 7 points, winning only the first game and dropping the last two and losing total by 3. Had I just not bowled we would probably would have walked away with 5. Next week is the last week of the season and then who knows when I will next toss a bowling ball down the lanes.

I didn't think I'd like the Crux as much as I do. 279 248 277 804 last night. 2nd 800 in about the last 4 weeks with the Crux, and 3rd in the last 8-10 weeks or so.
