That's good news that there will be a U.S. Open for (at least) the next three years, but, the damage may already have been done, with no Open for 2014 this smells more like the bowling equivalent of the big-bank/AIG bailout of 2008, and that smelled fishy at that, so we only hope that this fix will be temporary and that all involved parties (PBA/USBC/BPAA) will work together to not only provide for this, but also, to save whatever is left of the PBA.

Tom Clark has been an incompetent commissioner, not only not being able to secure a sponsor for more than 1-2 years tops for its own events and also with the either unannounced or ever-shrinking "prize funds" for pretty much all of its events because the amount is too embarassingly low to admit on the air. Hopefully the PBA can actually afford to televise its events LIVE instead of going up against the NFL on Sundays with events that are taped well in advance and with the only commercial airtime being taken up either by the bowling industry or "As Seen On TV".

We still need to repair the image of not only our great sport but also the top level of it as far as it's presentation to the general public is concerned. The PBA already has a great thing going with the official player jerseys built first by Gemini from 2008-2013 and now by High 5 Gear for the next five years and now that all of us can get the very same shirts our lane heroes proudly wear, I think High 5 Gear should buy commercial airtime and/or rotational ad signage during telecasts and the PBA should use a link to High 5 Gear's site on its website to let fans know they can "look like the pros" so to speak. Imagine grade school kids wearing PDW or Belmo or Sean Rash jerseys to class, this could the next pair of Air Jordans or the next Starter Jacket we can perhaps see abundantly on the streets real soon, but only if all of us and those involved in the industry cooperate to make this happen.

I'm a bowler and a bowling fan and I am proud of both, and yes, to answer the pending question, yes, we are indeed athletes too!!!
Peace Out,
Ray Jackson

We need your help!
Rather than begging for donations we're asking you to do one simple thing to help keep these forums running smooth:
When shopping for anything on or eBay please use these links to go to the web sites.

This won't cost you a cent!
You'll still get the exact same low prices, deals and free or low cost shipping; it doesn't change anything for you at all! The items do not have to be bowling related; all purchases made through these links help us! and eBay will pay us a small commission for every sale and it's helping us cover the expenses.
