Tonight's bowling, frame-by-frame (Linked to BowlSK sheet)

Lou spotted a probable flaw in my form in the third game, suggesting I try to stay lower at the foul line. I kept that in mind, and made some better shots after he told me, but had some bad breaks on stone 7s. I've had much better nights on my single pins, as well, mostly butchering my 10, but missing a couple of others, as well.

Result: 187-180-150=517
Average (30 games): 175
Average for last 9 games: 177
Next week's AVG+1 score: 555

Team took it on the chin, losing all eight, but Team 5 also lost all eight. Team 1 did win all eight, so our lead is two points over Team 1.

194+222+209=625 on China tonight. Having struggled the last few weeks on my high friction house shot, decided to leave the Xtra Roll in my bag and play the outside of the lane with my yellow Misfit and no hand. A couple of old lefty fluffers are shooting some high scores in this league playing outside while the better lefties are struggling. I figure why move in and play the soup when I can just stay outside and fluff it up? Overall didn't string as many strikes together as I wanted to (quite a few doubles followed by a 7 pin and another double), and did whiff a few 7 pin spares, but a step in the right direction for me.

Match play league results:

Gm1 - 194 L, missed 2 10 pins, Lady pro rolled 234
Gm2 - 193 L, missed 2 10 pins
Gm3 - 194 L, missed 1 10 pin, lost series
Gm4 - 269 W, against 1st place bowler
Gm5 - 222 W and won series

5 of 12 points, 1072 pins, plus 115 cap yields 1187 or 11.87+5=16..87 for the night.
The fall continues, as I drop to 8th place.

Dennis, isn't that 269 your best game since your knee surgery? smile

Hmmm, could be. Richie. I'm more impressed that I now bowl without a knee brace, and finally can bend fully without any pain. It has been 1 year since the operation, exactly. Third week of July, 13.

But, it's really hard to retain timing for a whole night, let alone a whole game. Seems, every 4th or 5th ball, something goes wrong. Tempo is another problem, as I tend to speed up through the night. And, when I try to slow down, then the timing thing comes back into play.

I did bowl for 2 years bowling 1-step, or not even finishing either the 12 or 13 seasons. Then dropping in book average both of those years, and the last one. I finally feel confident to regain my old form and surpass it.

Working hard to do just that. Thanks for the notice.

Nice job on the 269 Dennis.

149+212+168=529 on Badger for me tonight. Really bad start for me going open in 4 of the first 5 frames. Whiffed 3 single pins. Did a lot better after I started shooting my left side spares from the left side of the lane. Easier to just aim at the 2nd arrow and adjust my feet for the pin that I'm shooting at. Was easier to do on a 52' pattern but I may try it out in practice on the house shot as well. Inconsistent spare shooting is costing me big time.

Second game I started with a triple (using my Reax Pearl which did react pretty good for me on this) but threw only two more strikes the rest of the game. However I covered all of my spares (including picking up a 5-10) for the 212. Third game I never really found the strike line. Had only two of them and really only one was a good shot. I had moved in and was playing 3rd arrow but despite the strike I was never comfortable there and I ended up leaving a greek church two frames after the strike. That and another open left me in the 160s.

League wraps up next week and the pattern will be Carmen Salvino. I was in the 540s the two times we bowled on it earlier in the season, but given the last 3 patterns we bowled on (Chameleon and US Open in addition to Badger) I'm expecting my scores to be higher.

Tonight's bowling, frame-by-frame (Linked to BowlSK sheet)

I was very happy with tonight's set: No letdown in the third game, and, indeed, only one open frame after the first game (on a split in the third game, which I actually came close to making).

Result: 188-202-196=586
Average (33 games): 176
Average for last 9 games: 183
Next week's AVG+1 score: 533

Team won the first two games, then the other team's anchor put up a 267 to help his team take the third game by enough for total and a 4-4 split. Teams 1 and 5 each won six, so we're now tied with Team 1 for first with Team 5 six points behind in third.

Nice consistency Richie. Hope to see you next Saturday at the tournament.

Wish I could say I was consistent tonight but not the case, 182+211+186=579. Had a good line the second game but it didn't last and just didn't make the right changes at the right times, also had 6 opens which didn't help matters either.

Tonight's bowling, frame-by-frame (Linked to BowlSK sheet)

Just didn't have it tonight, as I got very little going.

Result: 146-156-157=459
Average (36 games): 174
Average for last 9 games: 173
Next week's AVG+1 score: 527

Lou and Jim both shot 244s to help us win the first game, and it turned out to be barely enough for total (8 pins).

My week didn't go that well either.

Monday night shot 183+150+164=497 for my lowest series to finish off the PBA league. Bowling on Carmen Salvino and just couldn't get anything going. Watching the righties have all this room and get strike after strike while I couldn't carry didn't help my concentration and I ended up missing some easy spares. I had 5 strikes all night and 3 of them were brooklyns. Never had a double. So finished this league with a 175 average which is a little disappointing. Could have easily been 180+ with better spare shooting despite the difficulties.

Then tonight on my high friction house shot I could only manage 179+191+181=551. While I did manage a double in each game the splits came at the most inopportune times. Bowling in a tournament on this shot Saturday, really hope I can break out of this slump.
