Tonight's bowling, frame-by-frame (Linked to BowlSK sheet)

Felt I made more progress tonight, and it showed in my total, but my physical game fell apart third game and I never mustered much.

Result: 195-185-138=518
Average (9 games): 160
Next week's AVG+1 score: 489

Team won three games comfortably, but one of our opponents had the highlight of the night on our pair, a rare conversion of the 2-8-10 in which he sent the 2 into the 10 and got something to come back for the 8.

182+243+181=606 on house tonight. Trouble getting out of the gate in the first game with 3 opens. One of them was a 7-10 split but also whiffed a 7 pin and chopped a 4,7. Second game got it together and had a mid-game 5 bagger with my Misfit and no opens. Third game the lanes started changing for me, started with a 6,8 split right out of the gate, and a miss on a double wood leave and no strikes left me with 73 after 5. Did manage a double but a couple of ringing 7s prevented me from getting a 200 game. Have to be better on my spare shooting if I'm going to average 210 in this league.

210 average out the gate this year, not a bad start.
Next week we are on the Mark Roth Pattern.

Nice job. I like good gutter players.

Thanks!

I practice playing the gutter almost every single time I am out on the lanes to keep myself comfortable. If you aren't afraid to throw it in the gutter anymore it makes it much more easy to stay clean through the shot and hit your target consistently.

If you ever want that "sport shot" feel on a house pattern go outside and play the twig and it will make you throw good shots. Not only will your rotation and speed have to be spot on but you will also have to be extremely accurate.

Match point league, took 9 of 12 points. And, it was frustrating. Lost game 1 on the fill shot in the 10th by rolling a 6 count when all I needed was 8 to tie and 9 to win. 6 on a double to lose the game.

Then I bowled the highest average bowler and went nose to nose to the 10th. I struck out. But, so did he for a tie at 234. So, only 1 point there.

Won all other games and series for 9 points.

1141pins for 5 games gave me 11.41 additional points. So, a 20.41 point night. Not bad.

Thanks. This definitely helps especially since I won't have an opportunity to bowl on any sport shots in after my PBAX league is over. Unfortunately it's only run in the summer. But this definitely gives me something to practice and it's a skill I'd like to have.

200+161+185=546 on Carmen Salvino tonight. I feel like I'm making progress, but still a little disappointed with the results. A lot of my strikes were wall shots, had a wee bit of trouble getting the ball to get all the way to the pocket. Second game those wall shots turned into washouts and with 3 opens and not being able to put strikes together I had to settle for the 161. 3rd game I had a pair of doubles, but 2 opens and a 5 fill on a spare cost me a 200 game. Did make an adjustment at the end that I can build on for next week. Went back to fastening the top strap on my Xtra Roll and I could really see the difference with my rev rate. Got me a late double and at least finished on a high note.

So through 5 weeks my PBAX average is now 177. With a 583 next week I can get that up to 180.

Tonight's bowling, frame-by-frame (Linked to BowlSK sheet)

I don't think I ever really had the right lane tonight, and three splits in the third game, which has become something of a problem, cost me. On the bright side: Over 75 percent on my makeables tonight, including all six of my single pins.

Result: 168-194-142=504
Average (12 games): 162
Average for last 9 games: 168
Next week's AVG+1 score: 498

We had Jim again after he was absent last week, and he shot 705 to help us win all eight again.

Tonight's Match play results.

Gm 1 - 221, W
Gm 2 - 255, W
Gm 3 - 191, W plus series
Gm 4 - 198, W
Gm 5 - 207, W plus series

Total pins + cap = 1207 or 12.07 points. Plus 12 match points = 24.07 total points.

A very good night.

Side note: In the final match of the night, the top bowler was bowling the bottom average bowler. And, the top bowler showed why he is on top. He shot 290 and 299 for his 2 game set. Finished gm1 with 11 and started gm2 with the front 11.
Nice bowling.

One problem for me to resolve. When the oil goes away, so does my game. Gotta fix that. I used my weakest ball the final 3 games.

Nice bowling Dennis. Had to deal with light oil myself again tonight in my house shot league. A lot of over/under, did manage 216+209+183=608 however. Used my weakest ball as well (Misfit) and played outside with no hand and a lot of speed which for the most part worked for the first two games. Lost my line around the end of game 2 however, tried making a few adjustments but nothing seemed to work. Just could not put together strikes in the last game. Managed to not give the pocket away however and only 2 opens on the night.

Had 171+188+190=549 on Carmen Salvino tonight. Had another lefty on the pair with me, but it didn't seem to help much. Still had trouble getting to the pocket and when I did find a line it didn't last very long. Just couldn't make the changes I needed to until the 3rd game when I finally threw a triple strike. Unfortunately started that game with two opens so I wasn't able to break 200. I thought I had a better than average night with my spare shooting given that I had a lot of them to shoot at.

The 549 was good enough to raise my average by 1 pin, so I'm now at 178, not too far off from where I thought I would be in this league. Next week we are on Chameleon. Hopefully I can find a good line to the pocket and stay there. Multiple angles of attack are supposed to work on this, but who knows how my equipment will react. I guess I'll find out Saturday in practice.
