We had the team pattern out last night for our league.
also using ice oil
last years shot in this league was pretty close to what we saw at the stadium, minors was not

its still 2 feet longer which makes it go down the lane much further if you dont roll it properly.
this pattern is easy to destroy by not playing in the correct spot and/or not correct equipment.
length of this suggests a breakpoint at 12 using the -31 rule of thumb, and its not that far off form what we saw during league play and practice afterwards.
i think its easier that last year, but im just some guy in the interweb.
I think the good players that have a plan and stick together will put up some pretty big numbers.
we had a 980 (4man) in game 3 (in the league)

I definitely need practice on this to determine which ball(s) and surfaces work best

From listening to Mike Jasnau, Stephen Padilla, and Vernon Peterson, as well as reading Jeff Richgel's initial thoughts, it looks like the prevailing thoughts are that scores will be decent, that on team there will be little hold but there will be area outside, and that on D/S you should be able to carve a nice shot if you're patient.

Of course these are just opinions based not on actually playing the patterns or seeing/hearing from those who have, but there's seven eagles between them, so they're probably solid opinions. At the point, it doesn't sound like there is much disagreement about the way they'll play. Only time will tell.

I wanted to add that we might see the whole 11thFrame.com team on the live stream, just not in the team event.

as far as hold/miss room.
maybe a slight bit of hold in, maybe 1 board.
as far as miss room outside, i only saw it farther down the lane
1 board outside your mark at the arrows is a washout or split.
Its still a tough pattern that requires good shotmaking and correct equipment choices.
these things they mention about miss room and hold are very minor
just IMO though from what we saw last night

Terrence Blevins (44, R, Chicago) bowled the first perfect game of this year's tournament today, bookending that w/ games of 257 and 226 to take the Regular Singles lead with 783. He also currently leads Regular All-Events after posting a 585 in team and 633 in doubles.

(Note: I'm going to start also noting whether these bowlers are righthanded or lefthanded. smile )

I practiced on the team pattern today, all afternoon. I was at a house with the same lane surfaces the stadium has, and most guys say this house gets the pattern to play pretty close every year. Take that with a grain of salt, since I can't confirm that.

I found the shot to be easier than I thought it might be, but it was still a bit tricky. Weaker balls would skid the entire way to the pins, while balls with too much surace rolled out pretty quickly. I ended up using my Hy-Road, and found the best reaction.

There was a lot of reaction outside. I was aiming for 9 at the arrows and 6 at the breakpoint. A breakpoint zone of about 4-7 with the right speed would make it to the pocket. If I hit 5 to 6 downlane off a good shot, it would strike. 8 to 9 down lane would cause the ball to hang and it was a buckets and washouts. Inside of 9 there was no hold.

I averaged 180 after several games. I'm averaging 180 in my PBAX league, so I was right at average for sport, though after I got a feel for the pattern, I didn't feel like it was all that hard. Some sport patterns have made me feel completely lost...this pattern was easy to get lined up and see what it was telling you. It just came down to throwing good shots and not tying to overpower it like a house shot.

it's difficult to replicate because conditions are so different between where you are and Reno Bowling Stadium.

what lane surface is the stadium?
