Forgot to do the all-events math in my last post: It should be a 2,001 total.

Blueprint just added the 2014 USBC Open Team, Doubles & Singles patterns to its library. It would be a real advantage to work with a Pro Shop that has Blueprint and all your specs to help figure out your Plans A, B, and C, before hitting the road.

I'm beginning the trek to Reno early tomorrow (Monday) morning. I'll be in Reno Tuesday night, bowling the BJ on Wednesday, Team Thursday, and D/S Friday. I'll try to report back each night, but we'll see how that goes. I've been doing a lot to prepare for the event, so I hop it pays off. As a first time bowler, the experience alone will make it worthwhile, but a good performance will be gravy.

Enjoy the trip, Champ, and bowl well. I will be bowling on the 2014 USBC Team pattern next week in PBAX league. That's about as close as I will be getting to Reno this year.

Well, the first day of bowling is in the books. The team pattern played a bit trickier than I thought it would, but overall, not too bad. There was no shortage of hook. Unfortunately, the balls I had with surface were rolling out very quickly. It was clear that I needed polish to get the ball down to have any energy at the pins, but getting a ball smoothly off the backend was tough. I used my new IQTP targeting 16 at the arrows and 9 at the breakpoint. I had a few boards of area downlane to hit the pocket, but shotmaking was important.

I shot 181, 157, 201 for 546. I missed three single pin spares, and had three other opens wit 2-10 combo splits.

I did throw a lot of quality shots, so I'm not disappointed with my performance. Tomorrow is D/S. I put a knocked the polish of my IQTP and I'm hoping that gives me the downlane control I was missing today.

Coach's Corner 1 (Lafayette, CO) posted games of 1,054, 1,068, and 1,114 last night, paced by a 703 from Mike Dray, to take the Regular Team lead in their first appearance as that team with 3,179. You'll get to see them today, as their minor events appearance will kick off the live streaming coverage from the tournament.

Kent Delaney (58, R, Webster, SD) avoided mistakes and stayed clean on the way to posting games of 213, 212, and 191 to take the Classified Singles lead with a 616 set. His 1,661 all-events total is also now good for second in Classified All-Events.
