Just wanted to let you all know I will be bowling in the South Region Event this weekend in Merritt Island. The Regional will take place on the Wolf Pattern (on brand new AMF SPL lanes) so friction will be an issue.

Hoping I can continue my progression at the Regional level, I have been getting closer and closer to the "Match-Play" cut line each event, lets see what happens!

Thank you sir, this is the first Regional I have bowled on a short pattern so we will see how I keep up with the scoring pace. The four I have bowled have all been 42' feet or longer so this will definitely be different.

Good thing I have done all those PBAX leagues to get me somewhat prepared.

Good luck Sk8. Have you bowled on Wolf before? Do you plan to target the 1 board at 32 feet?

I have bowled on Wolf a couple of times and its definitely a lot different than any other short pattern I have bowled on.

One thing I have noticed with the pattern is that you do not need to increase speed like you have to do most times on Cheetah, the pattern is short but I believe has higher volume so as you get too fast you end up blowing the ball through the break point. I see more people leave 2-8-10 combos on Wolf than I have ever seen on Cheetah.

I will be somewhere between 1-3 at 32 feet depending on the pair and the ball I go with and will just move my feet and target to keep myself at that break point as the day goes on.

For ball choice I usually start with something with surface on short (most likely my Reign On or my Marvel-S) in order to keep the ball smooth off the spot and not have it over react on the back end of the lane. On short patterns you do not need anything that gets angular, the pattern automatically creates down lane reaction so I try not to magnify that, I want something smooth that will tame the back ends down so that is why I start with aggressive equipment and I have it drilled to roll early and be smooth.

Bowled the Wolf, and never got outside of 15 with a low flare ball with surface.
In fact, I even roughed up my Hornet just for the occasion. Did OK, not spectacular.

Lots of spare shooting, and again, straight.
