Had travel league Sunday where we bowl two weeks at a time, 2 sets of 3 games. Anyway started the first set 245,252,238.
the next set 251,271,277. When I stuck the 10 pin on the fill ball the whole crowd let out a moan. I had no clue what just happened as I don't pay attention to scores until the end. Wish I still didn't know lol. Maybe next time. smile

That's some great bowling, especially in a travel league. It's bittersweet to have been so close to 800, but I think you have the right idea to not pay attention to the scores until the end. Next time!

You're the caliber of bowler who will surely rack up several of them with time. Don't sweat it one bit. That's a fantastic day of bowling.

Thanks all, I do have a couple sanctioned 800's but would have loved another. I have been using my HY-Road a lot lately it is like it broke in or something. I have quite a bit of good equipment now but for some reason the HY-Road seems like it is perfectly happy no matter what conditions I throw it on. Sunday was one of those days that every shot felt perfect as it left my hand and the few that weren't there was a messenger flying around to take care of it. I will be at Ohio States recruitment day Saturday and I know what ball I will be throwing for sure now. smile

The Hy-Road is just one of those balls, seems like the total is greater than the sum of the parts. Storm has been trying to replace it, the Reign Supreme was supposed to, the Crossroad was supposed to. I think they are coming to terms with the idea they can't really improve on it. Not such a bad problem to have.

Sidebar: A local Storm staffer was explaining to me what made the Hy-Road special among Storm balls with the same R2S hybrid coverstock was the forgiveness built into the core design. On balls that flare, the PAP migrates along a path of similar RG. Compared to balls with multiple RG contour planes (ex: Defiant Paragon core), the Hy-Road Inverted FeČ Technology core has a very simple, predictable, and forgiving RG contour path. If the ball was available in Blueprint, I would be able to show you an RG contour plot.

When I was at the Mark Baker/Chris Barnes clinic, someone asked what makes certain balls stand out as true greats and Chris and Mark said almost in unison, without batting an eye "they have a large window of continuation."

I'd never heard the term before, but they said it in such a way that made me believe its some form of industry term (at least within the doors of Columbia 300.) If you can decipher what "window of continuation" means, is that along the same lines as what you are saying, Joe?

Balls they listed in this category were the Faball Hammers, Columbia Beast and Cuda, Brunswick Zones, the Hy-Road, and the Black Widow.

To attempt to decipher "window of continuation" we would first have to come to a consensus regarding the definition of "continuation". Time for a new thread, perhaps?
