Hey, i'm doing a lesson with Walter Ray tomorrow. any ideas what I should try and ask him? Of course I will be focusing on my game but how many chances does one get to ask him anything, even indirectly? it wont take me any time to ask an extra question if anybody has one. I happen to bowl in the house he practices in before going out on tour each week.

Wow, that's awesome. Walter Ray is one of my favorites. I do have one question for him. I'd like to know what advice he might have for a straighter player for adjusting to lane transition and playing drier lanes in general. If you could get an answer from him on that I would be most grateful. Thanks for sharing this.

Awesome! Is it a one-on-one lesson, or a clinic?

I've got a clinic coming up at the end of September with Chris Barnes and Mark Baker I'm pretty excited about. I hope I come up with some good questions; you're right, one doesn't get many chances to ask these guys questions.

it's a one-on-one 30 minute lesson that i can extend to an hour if he has the time (and i have the extra money). i think i'll get a lot out of it as i'm making a list of things to ask him so i dont forget anything. you know how it goes. it is always better to prepare for the session to get the most out of it. i'll check all my ball fits and prepare for it just like a tournament. funny thing is i have a big event next monday just after the lesson.

I would focus on the fundamentals, it all starts there
Once determined if you need to tweak any parts of that, then you can worry about surfaces, layouts, etc.

RayRay, how did your lesson go with Walter Ray? I had a chance to throw a few practice balls with him at the 2013 Masters, and later watch him up close bowling head-to-head against Belmo. He did not win that particular match, but he is a true master of the sport of bowling, and an inspiration to strokers everywhere.
