They put down the Shark pattern instead of Viper. That makes sense to me. I'd almost believe Scorpion too but Shark makes sense. Like I said before, Viper should hook from the outside, no matter what. Always have a "in case of extremes, break glass" ball on the oiler side and on the dry side just in case. Lesson learned about bringing all my equipment, and leaving home any disbelief. For grins, see the difference below with the same two shots one board apart w/ the same ball on Scorpion. Unlike Shark's 8 boards difference at the pins because of the out-of-bounds, only a fraction of a board difference with Scorpion, as it should be. Note this is not the ball I would likely use or the line I would likely play on Scorpion. I am just showing the difference in the ball reaction between the two patterns. Shark is like a golf course with water hazards. It is not unplayable, but it helps to know the location of the puddles, and to have the right equipment to fit it in between.

I hear that. Catching the OOB and taking the 6 and 9 pins ONLY out of a full rack on Shark was a new experience for me Scorpion actually has played ok for me, it's mostly a matter of closing my angles down. At our house Scorpion had more of a "I suggest you don't try to roll to far outside" than an actual "OOB".

Tonight's bowling, frame-by-frame (Linked to BowlSK sheet) It's amazing what happens when you concentrate on the simple things, and all I was thinking most of the night was "Ring finger. Ring finger." The result was a night that was my third 700, one pin off of my personal best series, and with my best league game since Apr. 20, 2011. Would have liked to have covered two of my 10s, but I had only one open in each game (the other a light 7-10 that got no messenger love). And it was a rare night in another way: All three games were over 200, and I hadn't done that in a few years. Result: 203-257-246=706 Average (15 games): 187 Average for last 9 games: 198 Next week's AVG+1 score: 579 We had another strong team tonight, and with me going so well, I didn't need my teammates much, but I still got at least one game over average from everyone. Team took seven of eight after tying the first game, and I got the tie by striking out in the 10th (and knowing I needed to to tie, which provided a shot of confidence that carried me the rest of the night).

Tonight started well then went downhill fast. First game shot 247 i was feeling good next game i lost everything and shot my lowest game in about a year with 139 then came back a little and shot 203 however the third game was a disappointment as well because i whiffed an 8 pin in the tenth for our team to lose by 4.

that's interesting. i think 'pink'y when i bowl but, it ends up being ring finger and pinky together. were you using it to aim or just think hit the ball? i use it for both most of the time unless i use my index finger for same. R/R

Ray, mostly, it means leading the downswing and release with your ring finger, which should also help you stay under the ball. It's a concept first taught by John Jowdy.

sorry i dont see a color key. is the red heavier oil or less oil. to me that i thought means less oil and green -> blue is heavier. sorry the images are a bit small to see other than the line and of course, the approximate board at arrows. i play scorpion next week for the first time (that i know of) and this is the first sport league i have ever tried. i think i will make sure i get to the practice session they set up the lanes the day before the league.

Nice bowling, Richie. Great key to focus on...leading with the ring finger. I also like to think of the V between the index and middle finger and keeping it behind and under the ball.
RayRay, below is an overview of Scorpion. The color key is the vertical bar to the right of the lane. I agree it is a little strange for the color red to be the highest volume of oil. When I think red, I think dry, not oil. But, that is how it displays in Blueprint.
If you right click and save the picture, then open it, it appears normal size. I am not sure how to make it appear larger here.
