I have read the formats for entering brackets at the USBC Open. I am very confused. It said you can enter a total of 80 brackets and it costs 10.00 per bracket entry. Does that mean you have to pay 800.00 to enter all the brackets???

What i am looking for is to join up with a team/doubles/singles in next years USBC and i want to be prepared to join in all the possible brackets (squad, week, month, entire tournament) that I can, find out what to ask for when i check in without them having to explain it to me in line, and how much it costs to enter everything.

i have heard some bowlers making 500-800.00 per squad on a good day. sounds intriguing.

Yes, you can enter up to 80 brackets @ $10 each, so $800 would be the maximum.

$4-5000 is possible if you have a monster day. Be prepared for a 1099 if so.

First Question, have you bowled in the USBC Nationals before? if not I would keep your money in your pocket until the following season. It is an eye opening experience to say the least. I have seen many bowlers who average 230+ leave shooting sub 450 series there and lose $800. If you have $800 burning a hole in your pocket, then go all in, if I was you I might put up $100 and see how you do first then either keep your money in your pocket for singles and doubles or go all in depending on your team experience.

I agree. I've been to about 10 nationals including some before the bowling stadium in different cities. I know going into it anything can happen and i really liked that tournament. best finish was top 15 in singles and cashed in each event most times i go. since i have been away from the sport i will be careful before i jump in. it really depends on how i'm throwing the ball and i usually use the BJ tournament to warm up. i try to do homework by watching early and late to see how the lanes are hitting and what may be working.
it is all you can do is try to gain as much knowledge about what's going on and see if you can make something of it.
thanks for your comment!

I was in Dave Ferraro's squad a few years back. He maxed out on everything and got back about $5K for team and another $3-4K for D\S. If you bowl well, the potential is there. Then again, if you bowl well and go against someone like that, you could get steamrolled. The year prior, one of my teammates shot 670\680 for D\S. He put in $600 between them and was figuring to get a nice payday. Mark Williams was in our squad (bowls on the senior tour now). He got back about $250.
